I remember this day well. Several days of pouring rain and woke to a bright blue sky and sunshine. Finally about 11:00 am I was able to find this south facing field and could not resist a nice sun soak.

Hey all you ground pounders, jarheads, flyboys, six foot sailors and swabbies.... Thanks for your service.... Cheers, RickO
@coinlieutenant once told me that I might call him a "squid", but he himself would not address an admiral thusly
He currently has 31 paper-clips left on his short-timers' chain, so he likely refrained.
His wife Cathy also served.
I have one generalized "thank you" and an uncountable number of ratings of "outstanding",

Always appreciated, so first off, thank you to the OP.
Second, the military community writ large receives these recognitions warmly.
I personally find them a bit embarrassing as it feels like people thank me so much. I always think "you pay me pretty well to do this you know...." May just be because my career has been much easier than the standard. I feel the Navy has given me more than I have given it. Looking back on the last 24 years, as I retire for good next month, it has been an amazing and rewarding ride.
