https://www.ngccoin.com/variety-plus/

Nicely done with pctures on screen and click the image with short description of the varietys they grade.

Last time i looked they just listed them and click them individual.

So if you curious what a certain variety looks like check it out.

US coins only pictured. Would have been nice to see what the Foreign coin ones entail.

To bad PCGS does not do this.

Nice! Surprised they don't attribute 1921 Peace Dollar Vam 1H, 1F, and 1A. Thanks for sharing.

NGC does not recognize quite a few varieties, even those that ARE listed in the CPG guides. Kudos to those that are listed and imaged.

They are clowns. I noticed they dont have a pic (and have never graded) an example of 1961-D Washington RPM FS-501. So I sent them one and they didnt even have the talent to recognize the variety. They graded it MS65 (IMHO it was MS63) but refused to attribute it.

Thank you for the link...I am sure they are improving it as we speak to include more varieties ;)

LOL, Please don't get us posting about all the varieties the "clowns" (in YOUR "ex-pert" OPINION) at the top two services miss or ignore. I'll bet this thread would reach over 1K posts.

I always have ONE question for "variety geniuses." Did you put the variety on the submission form and ask them to holder it? Did you know that many "virtually worthless" tiny micro "blahs" are ignored by the major services because they don't wish any potential future buyer to be tricked into thinking the coin was something actually important or special except to coin junkies like you and me?

Some advice. There are only two second tier TPGS who care about coins like yours. if you want a "micro variety" listed on the label, use them.

PS I will agree with you on one thing. Any TPGS >:) that claims to be #1 should DO ALL LISTED VARIETIES! I believe they are slowly coming around to our point of view...maybe a few more years of waiting.

I just don't know what these forums would be without your valued input Insider2 !

"There are only two second tier TPGS who care about coins like yours." ??

Then you must be referring to PCGS. PCGS has graded 6 total 1961-D/D FS-501. Four of those were my submissions.

I think you should have stated that fact after calling NGC clowns. Perhaps you should have sent that "treasure" of yours to PCGS in the first place. I applaud them! As long as a coin is attributed correctly no "clown" should refuse to holder it. ANACS and ICG do the variety also.

Wow, I certainly agree with Insider2 on this! Varieties can be very difficult and many series take true experts to attribute them. I am partial to early copper, and my favorite large cent year, 1794 has 58 collectible varieties documented, many difficult to the inexperienced eye to even discern. In my opinion one way to gain credibility in attributions is to GUARANTEE them, which I understand PCGS does, the other top one doesn’t (specifically in their guarantee language).

This may be an “inside” joke (Insider2 will know) but this example was originally imaged on the VarietyPlus site:

    Best, Jack.

At the risk of being self-promoting, there is an alternative. ;)

I like your holders + image but I thought you just did VAMS.

Mostly VAMs, but I'll do anything for which I can easily get my hands on good attribution resources.
