Can anyone tell me First Strike, and cutoff date, for....

....the 2016 Annual Uncirculated Dollar Set? And also, if someone can explain the huge attraction (and price tag) to the ASE inside it (besides it's got a lettered edge, and burnished)? I have (well, had) them on a subscription, and couldn't remember opening them. Searched through my mint stuff, find an unopened shipping box, searched my orders, checked against tracking #, and sure enough, there are 2 still in their shipping box. If anyone can help, I'd certainly appreciate it (Cust Ser couldn't help, couldn't find it on the website...)! Thanks!

I'll come up with something.

Low mintage. Don't have a link, but plenty of places online can give mintage #s for ASE's.

Well, 3 or 4 more calls to PCGS turned up what I'd hoped...eligible for First Strike. Actually, they were shipped first day, 12/14/16, and eligible for FDOI, but where that's not eligible to Joe Q Public, I'll have to be happy with First Strike, adding to a total population of 77 graded between 69 & 70.

I still don't see the bigger attraction to this coin over any other 2016 W burnished, lettered edge ASE. I CERTAINLY don't see the bigger price tag for them. BUT, you better believe I'm adding for First Strike with the set's designation on the cert!

    I'll come up with something.

For some collectors, the 'First Strike' designation is important...because they really do not understand the meaning. Sellers like it, since in the neophyte market, it brings a premium. Good luck... Hope you get 70's...Cheers, RickO

I think I own about a few hundred of these in NGC and PCGS 70's. From what I know any unopened boxes the Graders will go by the ship date of the unopened box. Follow the instructions on UNOPENED boxes of the grading companies and PRAY for 70's if you do grade them.
