VerdiCare - Before and After

ConnecticoinConnecticoin Posts: 13,109 ✭✭✭✭✭

So I tried out this VerdiCare (formerly Verdigone) stuff on some Lincolns that developed the green stuff from sitting in a Whitman folder, probably in a damp attic! The sh*t really works! The 11-S was too far gone, but it worked well on the others, especially the 09-S and the 16-S!

VerdiCare can work wonders. Here is a bronze medal that was approaching terminal.

Nice. I may need to acquire some of this at some time.

I recall Lance (Ikeweigan) posting similar results some years ago too.

It does work well, though I am unsure of long term effects. I recommend stringent rinsing procedures - hot water, alcohol, hot water for example.... That recommendation is not because I have seen problems, just a gut feel when it comes to chemicals and copper. Cheers, RickO

I've used Verdi Care on several operas including Macbeth and Aida with considerable success. It was also tried on I Lombardi alla prima crociata with limited success -- considerable problems with the libretto that could not be removed even with repeated applications. The most interesting result was with Messa da Requiem which Verdi Care was able to get the catholic church (1874) to allow females to sing in a requiem mass!

I once used VC in a multi-step conservation process on a morgan that had been near/in a fire (with other solvent steps).. and it graded au53. And not only that, I doubt it would have had much of a chance without the VC step. The stuff is amazing and not exclusively for copper..

    Nicely done, RogerB.

    Grazie!
Should have tried it on his unwritten opera completed just after La traviata --- Pollo alla cacciatora.

I went to the store and found tarn-x. I have never used any of these types of products and practiced on loose change. The results were quite good.

Tarn-X s fine for pocket change - don't use it on collector coins unless you want to ruin them.

What products are appropriate as dips on coins? My wife is having me clean our silverware with this tarnX. This is what I get for showing her what it does to coins....uggg
