eBay Duplicates

So I've been on a coin collecting hietus and today browsed coins in eBay for the first time in many years. So I manage to find US coins and drill down to a random denomination and type. As I browse page after page, I keep seeing many coins repeating... even to the point where I follow a link on say page 3, back up to page 3, and advance to page 4. I see the same coin from page 3 again, and the link on page 4 is highlight to indicate I've followed the link before even though this is the 1st I've been on page 4.
What is up with that, as it quickly gets annoying seeing the same coins over and over.

Some are "sponsored". An extra fee to highlight (and repeat). I also suspect eBay repeats items that for your searches.
I have noticed the 'repeats' as well... just considered it an annoyance when encountered. Thanks for the explanation... Cheers, RickO
I've determined that "sponsored" is definitely a major reason for what I was seeing.
Before asking this question, I was viewing eBay on my smart phone where the "condensed version" of the item list doesn't highlight "sponsored" items. I've since viewed eBay on a laptop where I could see at least one item per page marked as "sponsored", and the same "sponsored" item was seen over and over as I would move thru the pages.
I have heard of "consignment" items being listed more than once; by the owner and other well (better) known dealers.

_ if you see the highlighted link on page 4 that you followed on page 3, it is NOT a repeated listing, it's the same listing that dropped down a page. That could be either due to addition of new coins pushing it down,_
This is what I've always figured. It's always the same listing and more listings are added, pushing the subject listing down further, so as you continue searching, you have to keep ahead of the tide.
I knew it would happen.
