    i have 1907 IHC that must be from the same grease-filled die. On my piece, which has considerably less wear than the piece shown here, the "7" is very prominent and the "1", "9" and "0" are all quite faint. I call it my lucky penny. B)

    looks more like impact damage (PMD) than grease to me

    I think it is PMD.... the one and seven are quite prominent and the central digits appear purposely defaced. JMO... Cheers, RickO
