Toned Gold 8 Escudos

jwittenjwitten Posts: 5,076 ✭✭✭✭✭

OK, I know this is the US forum, but this is my main posting ground, so wanted to share it here. I just picked up this 1819 8 Escudos! It matches one I had awhile back, but already sold. Enjoy!

And here is it's twin that I sold awhile back:

    Maybe a little too pretty.

That’s nice. I’ve been watching those for a while now. There’s a lot of history there and the gold content is a big plus.

I'm sure that back in the early 1800's plenty of merchants would have been happy to take an 8 Escudo coin in trade.

    Lovely coin.

Impossible! It could be prettier if the toning went ALL the way around the rim!

I should have picked up some of those when I was living in Portugal.. at that time they would have been quite reasonable. Hindsight is always 20/20. ;) Cheers, RickO

Beautiful coin . . . And the great thing is these did circulate when the US was a fledging nation!

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!
