1860's J.C. Bailey U.S. Merchant Token, PA-34, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Brass, 28mm Diameter, Reeded Edge.
This is one of the stopper Philadelphia merchant advertisement tokens I never thought I’d own. Over the course of nearly 15 years it’s the higher grade example of only the second I’d seen. Donald Miller in 1963 and Benjamin Wright as far back as 1900 both called this token rare. Russell Rulau never managed to locate an example to borrow for photography and always just had a pencil sketch line drawing plate in his books. Since no example had sold at auction, Rulau never adjusted his price values over the decades. This is also a token which was missing within the John Ford sale of tokens acquired from the collections of Frederick Boyd and Wayte Raymond. Bailey’s business first appears in directories at the 1109 Spring Gardens Street in 1867.

According to your description, that token may be one of the rarest known. Looks in great shape as well. Is there a story behind your acquisition? Something this rare is certainly a great find. Cheers, RickO
Looks like a little doubling on the 1 of 1109 ??
Here is a 1934 DDO # 2 - check out the E in WE , its off the charts. Easy to find because of that E. Cherry picked in a NGC MS 66 Holder. It is at PCGS now trying to get the same grade. Enjoy your "copper" weekend everyone!

Thanks as condition wise I couln't be happier since it's original skinned brass with lustrous surfaces and patina. It's a very rare token, but sometimes being too rare can actually hinder. For example until I just posted a photo this was rarer then both Bigfoot & Nessy. As although they have never been seen either there's enough falsified witness photographs that everyone has an idea what they may actually look like. So a non seasoned exonumia collector could actually overlook this token as it's not something they are familiar with. Hence I was lucky to score it on eBay after being relisted, having missed it the first time thankfully having gone unsold.
Yes on the left side of the second 1 and in the hole of the 9 on the address. I don't see this as doubling, but the die having been slightly re-cut still showing trace alteration.
@Broadstruck ....Thanks for the backstory.... This is why constant attention (in one's area of interest) can pay off on ebay. Sometimes the rare treasure will appear... It is a great feeling when one is there at the right time. Cheers, RickO

Yeah I was like "Okay since no one else seemed to like this I guess I'll have to quickly make it mine"
Btw you double tapped... Are you holding your mouse sideways gangsta style?
@Broadstruck ...No, no gansta grip for me.... Sometimes I click the 'post comment' button and nothing happens... though it does get 'dim' and just sits there... being a tad impatient, I click it again.. and end up with two posts. Strangely, such as while I am typing this reply, the 'post comment' button went dim... but then came back. I do not know if this is my system (top of the line), my service - supposed to be best package, or the software. Cheers, RickO

Here is a pair of Great Britian Snuff tokens.

In 1795 Euphrame Campbell was a tobacconist at 2 St Andrews Street in Edinburgh. Then it became The Horseshoe Pub
Now it appears on Google to be renovating so the structure may not be recognizable any longer.

Hess & Speidel Apollo Gardens "Good for 6 Cents at 576 Washington St" Boston, MA 27mm Copper Circa 1864-5, Miller Mass 4

This is a new edition to the U.S. Civil War Storecards 3rd edition, MA115-Cc-2a. A rare piece in copper, most likely struck for collectors of the day. If so, they didnt survive in any appreciable quantity. Even with Merriam's beautiful design of Apollo, they do not appear to have been saved. I have not seen one for sale in years. When encountered these are always in white metal, and usually in such condition that shows they actually circulated at the establishment on Washington St.
The below example is a typical:

Thanks! I used to live in Boston, for 10 years, in the South End near the Massachusetts mint. This is not my area of interest, but had to have one. Coin is from John Kraljevich (I believe I spelled that correctly). Pictures are from @indeetlib who I agree did an outstanding job!

You're certainly running in the right circles with guys like that, Bob13.

I snapped a shot of a toned 44-D RPM-5 on oak desk background, and thought it very complimentary:

@1630Boston - nice coin. I'll probably try to find a similar half cent at some point.
@Walkerguy21D - JK and Indeetlib are class acts, even in my very brief interactions with them.
Also lived in Jersey for a few years - this one is from Brian Greer, and pics again from Indeetlib.

And Brian is another great guy!
Purchased this coin from Mr. Snow this past Thursday at the CSNS, I hope he doesn't mind that I copied the image from his web site.
My Mass "4-C half cent".

What makes this one rather interesting is that it is a struck fake...
