EBay seller woes
Well in our 7 years or so of buying and selling we finally have a new one, THE SELLER claims we switched the coins! Anybody have any experiences with this?
BOUGHT proof set ,overpaid coins looked quality, but took a shot, auction claimed original as issues from government
Arrived coins all 64,/65 at best Thrashed and falling apart and out of the cello with tape on it
3.Returned- Seller claims :we switched coins , put tape on the set and switched out coins
- We can point out to eBay, upon really examining the pics in the auction that tape was already on the cellos and at least one coin falling out so that will help our credibility., and looks like he has a coin shop in South Chicago of all places ,hah!
- Any similar experiences

Brings a whole new meaning to dealing on the south side.
Just file a SNAD. It's your best crap shoot on eBay.
Check out my current listings: https://ebay.com/sch/khunt/m.html?_ipg=200&_sop=12&_rdc=1

Use the listing pictures as part of your proof, I am sure eBay will decide on your favor. I am sorry you have to experience a very unpleasant deal. Take a deep breath; recoup your money and let it go
I stay away from raw coins on Ebay for that reason.
Give a link
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I am NOT defending the seller. But a couple points:
It is RIDICULOUS that the seller should accuse you of switching coins, but that is a Seller fear in such a situation. Especially if the cello came apart in shipping, how would the seller know that you hadn't swapped out a coin? It has happened - I'm not saying YOU did it, but it has happened.
This is why people are so loyal to their trusted sellers on eBay. It's also why sellers wince just a little if they have a new buyer and they are sending them an expensive coin. Frankly, it's why eBay should go back to allowing negative feedback of buyers. You can screen your sellers a bit in the feedback, but there is no way to screen buyers.
But, there's no doubt eBay will side with you [even if you had swapped coins] so simply file the SNAD, let the process take its course, avoid the seller in the future and move on with your life. There are 50 great sellers on eBay for every bad one.

never had that happen, but had a buyer send back a different coin on a return. it was a pain, had to go to police station and file a report and take pictures
Always video tape and take picture of what you receive with new seller. Sorry to hear of the issue. Glad it’s not high value item.
Best place to buy !

Nasty situation.... Best of luck with resolution. Cheers, RickO
way too much work
I use paypal protection and it has NEVER failed me.
Yeah...it is way too much work. I have occasionally opened a package before the carrier or clerk. Other than a couple slabs damaged during shipping, no problems.
I also doubt it has any legal standing UNLESS done in front of a clerk or other third party and you had that clerk or 3rd party sign an affidavit. It would take me about 5 minutes to open a package, swap a coin, reseal it and then videotape myself opening the package with SHOCK! the wrong coin inside.
It's amazing how much trouble people go through to give themselves a (false) sense of security.

Video is not accepted by paypal.
Shouldn't the title by Buyer Woes?
I think they are both unhappy.

For the life of me, I dont understand why Ebay won't let a seller neg a buyer who is clearly in the wrong.
I had "buyer" contact me with an offer, begging to please give him a few extra days to pay for item if I accepted. Well, I did just that and the scumbag never paid, never even answered messages sent to him.
I look into his feedback, all positives. But they were far from positive feedback. Even though he had 100% pos feedback, all the comments were along the lines of "This guy should be kicked off eBay," "Doesnt pay for items," and "Dont waste your time, this dude will not go through with the transaction."

If the seller changes the pics, does Ebay have access to the originals?
A listing's description or pictures can not be changed once an item has a bid, active offer, or sells.
Post a link.
I would like to see the set.
FWIW, I was born and raised, on the South side of Chicago, of all places, hah!

I don't think you had much to do with that downfall.
Successful transactions with : MICHAELDIXON, Manorcourtman, Bochiman, bolivarshagnasty, AUandAG, onlyroosies, chumley, Weiss, jdimmick, BAJJERFAN, gene1978, TJM965, Smittys, GRANDAM, JTHawaii, mainejoe, softparade, derryb, Ricko
Bad transactions with : nobody to date
If the seller posted here, he would say, some dude switched out the coins he sent back, and we would all feel sorry for him also!
LOL. It occurred to me also. Or we would also sympathize that someone sent back a cello proof set that was only all 64s/65s. Or that the post office damaged the proof set in shipping. LOL. Perspective is everything.

Still waiting for the link...
