Been finding some interesting things made out of silver recently. Not just your typical beat up silverware or candle sticks.
How about a post of "things" made of silver (or gold, or Pt)?
Picked up these salt & pepper shakers today and the more I look at 'em, the more I'm inclined to keep them for my own collection. I think they're post-WWII items made for returning G.I.s to buy as gifts.
Pictured here with a set of silver mint julep "sipper spoons" of the same era and style:
And two of my favorite sterling pieces: Brown & Sons sterling cream pitcher and sugar bowl, circa 1910:

Great looking items, Weiss. I’d love to get into that aspect of silver stacking, but I rarely run into these types of items at reasonable prices. It would be nice to have these to display, unlike bars and rounds which end up locked in a safe.

I’m pretty stoked to be able to share a new addition to my visible gold ore specimen sub set natural gold collection. I haven’t found a nice piece that was affordable since 2011. Believe me, I try! This piece is about 3-4 inches long and has small gold scattered across the top of the exposed seam and sporadically throughout. Displays well. From Nevada.
Recently met a guy that is a geologist and miner and he gave this piece to me last night out of friendship. Thought I would share it with my friends here. With some other pieces, I’m going to cab and mount in some jewelry soon And will share them when done.
@Type2... Those roosters are amazing... Cheers, RickO

At the risk of sounding boorish, what is this thing? It is marked Bailey Banks & Biddle sterling, and weighs 38 GM's.
It's upside down in the photo, sorry can't figure this pad out.
Not weighted.
Looks like a vase for silk flowers. Perhaps it had a glass insert at one time for use with real cut flowers in water. Only a guess and I could be wrong.

Sounds reasonable.
I agree, it appears to be a base for what likely was a crystal insert.... vase, candle holder etc.. Cheers, RickO
Here is some stuff I picked up for $2.00 over spot.

Lot of 10oz bars. Four different series.

@Type2 ... I was looking at your 10 oz bars again, with the USS Constitution on them. The top left one has some letters at the top of the bar, but I cannot make out what they are. Can you explain? Thanks, Cheers, RickO
Picked it up while shopping in downtown Los Angeles today.
Cheaper than anywhere on the net

Here is my latest pickup and got it for a very fair deal. I am looking for the chunkier types of academy as well. This is a 4.8 oz academy pour. Just a cool bar in my opinion that I have been looking to get for quite some time.

Nice 1/10 gold eagles... I considered doing a run of those, but went with the one ounce gold instead.... Cheers, RickO
Thank you, ricko. It's a way to stack and also feel 'numismatic.'
I confess to loving the Capital holders, especially the US Gold Vault 1/10 x 5 piece. Need to post those, I'm up to about 25 full ones now.
A YTD run of one oz AGE! Nice! ... I need to do some math and figure a time frame, darn it for coming to this place and getting expensive ideas
