It's 2 different cents. The turn them down and then fit them together.

Lol I have a two headed quarter done the same way. I thought they actually cut them in half though, not lathed them down.

I found a 1776-1976 Kennedy mated with the regular Kennedy shield/eagle reverse back when I roll hunted halves.
Made a pretty sizable void when milled out . . . Spy Coin?

Several YouTube vids show it being done - remember the accuracy on a decent lathe is 1/1000th of an inch.

A friend, who is not a coin collector, gave me a large English Penny she had for years. As I examined it, it came apart in my hands... she had it for over forty years (her estimate) and never knew about it. Cheers, RickO
