Just found "3rd known' example of 1896 IHC Horn-9 FS-302.

Hi. Thought there could be some interest in this recent find. I obtained it at a coin show (unattributed, of course), thinking I could see the horn on the 9, but thinking, "Nah, couldn't be 'the Horn-9', since that's unique" (later learned that there were 2 known examples).
I've since had it certified with PCGS and it's on CoinFacts now (F-12 example).
I'm attaching a pic. Thought this was neat enough to share. Since my loved ones and friends don't really care about coins, was hoping at least someone would think this was pretty interesting!!

Cool find, never heard of the variety before this.
Interesting ... I am not aware of the variety either. I look forward to Rick Snow's comments.

I hoped to find it in Rick Snow's Attribution Guide but Rick makes no mention of the Horn-9 FS-302 regarding an 1896 IHC. He does list FS-302 with additional identification of S-13 for 1899.
Could you please post a pic of the horn?
OINK
See there you go, I just finished getting my wife to believe I know it all and now this? Now she will never believe that again.
This was first in Longacre's Ledger in 2015. Just after my book came out and just before the Sixth Edition of Cherrypicker's went to press. The fact that the Cherrypicker's Guide says "Unique" reflects the newness of the listing. We fully expect more to show up. The discovery coin sold for $700 (by me). It was AU58. I would think a Fine would be under $300.
You learn something around here every day.
Thanks for the replies, all.
Cool deal. I'll start the search for number 4 tomorrow!!!
Great find.... Now we will all be flocking to shops/shows looking for one....
Cheers, RickO
Good find!
Thanks for the update Rick. I made a copy and posted in your attribution guide.
Nice find, especially with only 2 previous examples known. A great score!!!
