Either a lamination or small strike thru.

    It could be a strike through, but looks more like a gouge to me.... Cheers, RickO

    I agree with Ricko -probable struck thru,
    but hard to know for sure from that one photo.

    It has the right 'white color' in the depressed
    area, which is correct for many of the Morgan
    dollar struck thru's that are around.

    If it's caused by a unique event, then it's no a die variety; but an error.
