An eBay seller who covered all the bases.

I'm not sure what happened with this listing --- https://ebay.com/itm/U-S-Centennial-Exposition-Silver-So-Called-Dollar-HK-28-NGC-AU-58/183161185091?hash=item2aa541e343:g:JT0AAOSwfEVaw99X --- but the seller managed to really screw it up.
--- in the title it's Silver.
--- the picture is a Copper medal.
--- in the description it's Brass.
There's no telling what a winning bidder may receive!! Strangely, this seller is typically one of the good guys.

Definitely some issues with that listing... methinks the seller may have been imbibing at time of listing
.... @keets.... Al, is that a good price for that piece? I am not familiar with this market. Cheers, RickO
without commenting on the price I will only say that I looked at the pictures and don't like the piece. SC$'s are no different than coins in that regard, the niche has enough interesting medals to keep any interested collector looking around. any specific HK number such as this one will turn up a much nicer medal............eventually.
as to pricing, that is difficult to do. I have bought items that time shows I paid way too much for. I have watched items sell for multiples of what I thought they were worth. without a succinct price guide or even knowledge of how many of a certain HK# are extant it's hard to price things. sometimes it is as simple as the last HK-XXX sold for $XXX, so this one has to be worth that much.
a long winded, maybe non-sensical reply, but it's the best I have.
Exonumia is always hard to price. Especially stuff that comes up very infrequently or is an opportunity to add something rare to the collection.
I always look at the following:
1. How many of the piece are thought to exist?
2. What did it bring last auction appearance? (And compare it to the previous appearance)
3. When was the last time one was for sale? (Noting the gap in between any known sales)
4. What's the likelihood one will become available in the future?
5. Do I really want to wait?
Sometimes paying a couple hundred more than it's presently worth can be a wise move. Especially if you really want the piece and you will spend the next decade searching for another.

"Coin collecting for outcasts..."
the population is 2 with 6 higher, I would never pay 99 dollars for it. can't believe it has 7 watchers
I’m not a SC$ guy. If any come in, I’ll contact you, bro.

Keep in mind many watchers track auctions for information, not because they are personally interested in the item. I'll sometimes find items of some interest, but the price is way out there (or the coin unacceptable for whatever reason). I might still watch it just to see where it ended up to build a better picture of the market in my head. If the coin sold with a few bidders, then maybe I was wrong (even if I still don't like the piece). If the coin gets relisted 20 times, then maybe I'm right.
Not wanting to hijack your thread at all but not wanting to start one either, feel it's somewhat relevant graded 63 but seller claims it looks MS67...where on earth do these people come from lol

I seen that ms-63 $10 listing too, he can't even spell, look at title. it's not even a high end ms-63, it's a low end, he definitely doesn't know much about $10 Indians, I wouldn't even give 800 for it
There are many seller who advertised coins as "upgrade potential" BUT the price already reflected in the asking price...so who's potential is it
