Of course, there were talented people in the 40's and 50's and yes some head banging music of the seventies and eighties was awful.

But on the whole, the music of the 40's and 50's is unlistenable, horrendously awful, mind-numbing blah. I do not see any of this generation listening to that sound. They dig rock and roll tho.
Elvis, Chuck Berry, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Ella Fitzgerald, Jo Stafford, Earl Scruggs, The Platters, Sammy Davis, Liberace, Andrews Sisters, Buddy Holly, Gene Pitney, Matt Monroe, Marty Robbins...

Scratch Gene Pitney off the list, his first hits were early sixties. High notes might be too much to bear anyway.

Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd - an all time great.
I often enjoy a nice cab, Malbec, or whisky in the evening when most auctions end. Win or lose, I always feel pretty good.

(also works great when I visit the endodondist (this actually happened to me - isn't karma great?)

Thank you for posting that. I am not afraid to say that it brought tears to my eyes (for several reasons).
Those were the great days of music for my generation.

Everything since the turn of the century pales in comparison.

Man, it is really hard to listen to some of that old chit. Hurts the ears and numbs the mind, yuk.

There is a reason the younger generation of today listens to the music of the 60's and 70's.

They used to play that at the Silverdome in Pontiac for the Detroit Lions games all the time.
But the Lions basically sucked and lost most of the time.

I was there to watch the Packers as tickets for home games in Lambeau were pricey vs dirt cheap in Detroit.

Still no Super Bowls for them...... I think 1957 is the last time the Lie-downs did anything worth noting.

I remember that well. 1980 the lions won all four pre season games and the first four in the regular season. They went down the crapper after that and a local DJ changed the lyrics to "another one kicks our butts."

@coin4sale beat me with "LOSER", so I'll offer two references in "ROW JIMMY" by the Greatful Dead:
"Here's a half dollar if you dare
Double twist when you hit the air" (at 4 min mark) and
"Two bit piece don't buy no more
Not so much as it done before" (not until 8:10 mark)

My stereo system has been in mothballs since we moved to NC in 2010.

I am now properly motivated to get it back up and running.
The wife wears hearing aids now so I can actually turn it up to proper volume since she rarely wears them.

Main speakers are Dahlquist DQ-10's circa 1978. Mirror imaged and crossovers capped with mylar caps.
Have some sweet sounding DCM Time Windows as well.
Dalquist subwoofers x 2 or RH labs sub
Audionics CC2 amps x 2 - switched to mono for frequencies >60Hz to drive the DQ-10s
Hafler DH500 amp - for subwoofers <60Hz only - bone thumping bass - better than any rap or hip-hop setup.
Dahlquist Electronic crossover - tuned for 60Hz crossover point
    Hafler or Rappaport preamp
Marcof pre-preamp for moving magnet cartridges
Linn Sondek LP 12 turntable with Grace tonearm and Sonus Blue Moving Magnet cartridge
Thorens turntable with exchangeable cartridges - typically Moving coil
Carver sonic hologram generator (tends to widen and deepen the sound stage)
Yes, I have a Yamaha CD player, but I find the digital versions of music to be crap compared to vinyl or analog.
TEAC reel to reel tape, but rarely used.

They don't make stuff like this any more. And the new digital equipment sounds like garbage just like the new music.

The ONLY time they were worth the price of admission was when Barry Sanders was playing. I absolutely enjoyed how he played and give him credit for going out on his own terms. He was one of the best ever.

Let me ask you a question good man. You are on a coin forum where the OP has asked participants to post songs that are coin related. Many of us are older baby boomers and enjoyed music from before you were whining from diaper rash.

These are the songs we like and the diaper rash should have cleared up by now...why don't you quit whining.
