Here is the Brasher Doubloon that resides in my collection. Well, it is a copy struck in brass from dies prepared by Joseph Merriam circa 1860. The work was commissioned by notable collector and New England Banker, Alfred S. Robinson. 25 were said to have been struck in brass and 25 in copper. Not many still around, and this is just a lovely example. PCGS MS65
Thanks for looking!

Very nice. Extra points for a coin that says EXCELSIOR.
Cool, congratulations !!!
If you like "Excelsior" on coins, I would be remiss if I didnt show you my favorite piece in my collection: the unique "Excelsior Club" civil war token:

How about a restaurant logo?
Any Madison area people able to comment? They get really good reviews.

You cant have them all, Stef! I do remember when you got yours from Hayden a couple of years ago. Very nice, and I kicked myself for not going after it. However, that was an auction that had alot going on for me. I got this one from Dave Wnuck about a year ago, but I just discovered the true view.
Feel free to post yours here.

Thanks @dcw I’m glad you didn’t go for it. I just love it and it has some nice toning.

Neat piece--I've never seen it before.
You guys know I've got to post my Brasher at every opportunity to justify the cost, right?

Thank you, sir! And in case you didn't see it: The Virgil Brand - Monaco doubloon just sold for $5,000,000 -- the highest ever paid for an NGC graded coin:

Interestingly, it looks like the restaurant took Merriam's rendition of the Brasher Doubloon, as opposed to the real thing.

This replica coin appeared as a prop coin in the 1947 detective film "The Brasher Doubloon".

It is obviously not a Merriam restrike.
