My Latest Submission Popped, (and the Grading Fairy makes a partial return)

(I like reading these grading reports, so I endeavor to post them when I can. My apologies if they annoy).
You may, (or may not...no special reason you should), recall that I sent three submissions at the last Long Beach show. The third, an Economy submission, just popped up. 30 business days, for those waiting.
To Recap:
- A restoration coin, an 1887 3-Cent Nickel, was restored for PVC contamination, and raised in grade from AU-55 to MS-62. (I thought I had the grading world by the tail!)
- A Regular crossover submission of 9 NGC coins had mixed results.
o 4 crossed at grade.
o 4 crossed downgrading by one step.
o 1 Seated Quarter DNC. They called it “environmental damage”.
o (I was somewhat less pleased, but not heartbroken)
So, here’s the new submission. Screen capture from the website, with “Previous Grade” added in red by me for reference.
Lessons and comments:
- PCGS is harder on seated coinage than NGC?? Overall, I had 5 downgrade by one step, 3 cross at grade, and 2 DNC’s. (Counting a Trade Dollar as a “Seated Coin” for my purposes here). For NON seated coinage, I’m 9 for 9 crossing at grade, or upgrading!
- The 2 DNC’s, I honestly don’t understand. (One tagged as Environmental Damage, one I’m not sure of yet). They are darker than usual, but they look good to me! Then again, I like a golden brown coin....so maybe I’m just goofy that way, and I’m just out of step with the rest of the community. Wouldn’t be the first time.....
- My 3-Cent Nickels are now all PCGS, and can reside in my registry. I should slide into the top 10 now. (Which probably says more about the absence of 3CN registry sets than about the quality of my particular set.
- Happy about the two 3CN upgrades in this submission. I thought I might get a 64 SOMEWHERE in there, and the previous 62 was clearly better than that, to my eye.
So, the grading fairy spent at least a little time with this submission. She just doesn’t like my seated coins.
With my collection “in the state I want it in”, I can let my submission privileges lapse for awhile. I’ll let you guys test the system.

Roll the dice and take your chances...looks like a very good (ahem, mostly MS) submission! Did you opt for the TrueViews?

No. I passed on the TrueViews. Trying to keep costs down....and trying to up my own photography skills.

nice presentation, posts and results.

Not bad results.... I have seen much worse posted. Maybe resubmit the DNC's raw.... Cheers, RickO
@TommyType
What a courage submitting this many coins and I would be happy enough with upgrades. Were you anxious awaiting their result? May I see the DNC?
I think you did OK. If not crackem and send them back.

Not sure I want to throw MORE money at them. The two seated coins can stay in their NGC wrappers. I may upgrade and sell them, I may just keep them.
I've gotten rather comfortable submitting. (My DNC's say maybe TOO comfortable.
The first time I submitted, I felt like I was entering a "room of mystery"....who knows what might come out the other door!! I've now determined that the graders are fairly predictable. They aren't doing anything we don't do ourselves everyday....They just do it BETTER! I figure a coin that I think is an AU-50 has a pretty good shot at coming back between 45 and 53.
I have some pics of the 1858 half that I can post. I'll have to take new pics of the 1873 quarter.....
I'm confused. You said 4 crossed at grade, 4 downgraded one grade, and 1 DNC, but that is not what I see.
I see 2 upgrades (lines 3 & 4), 1 downgrade (line 9), 5 at grade, and 1 DNC.
Sorry...all of the information isn't in this post. I was combining a 9 coin crossover mentioned in the summary at the top, and this 10 coin submission. And I was only talking about seated coins, which were the major thorn in my side.
Here's a link to the 9 coin submission, (I think this will work):

Basically, my thesis is that PCGS is tougher on seated coins than NGC. (100 page research paper in the works).
Here is the 1858 Half that DNC. Picture probably isn't the greatest....
I have the coins back now, (I live 1 USPS day from PCGS home office). Anyone care to guess what their DNC reason was?
