I though ALL those were ILLEGAL now due to awwwww just kidding nice wish I had one!
1 picayune and a gator tail.
Why does it look so rough - what is it made of? Is it wood? Hard rubber/gutta percha?
Not a coin - a medal - but in any case a nice memento from history that seems to be resurfacing in the modern era.
it looks to me like it may have been in the ground and is probably bronze, but it's near impossible to tell from these pictures. judging on the condition, even though it is a scarce/rare medal i would think the value is negligible. you should probably keep it.
HK-758 --- Bronze.
HK-758a --- Pewter.
45mm and both are listed as R-6/20-75 known.
Value is speculative due to it's damaged condition. It's too bad because it is an interesting medal that is made even more interesting by current events.
I would have guessed white metal. Thanks for the HK #s.
Based on the pictures, it's HK-758a. You can call it pewter, or you can call it white metal, or you can call it tin, or any of a number of things. You won't be sure without elemental analysis, and the actual composition won't change anything anyway.
Unfortunately, the value is basically nothing in that condition. If you list it on eBay you might get $50. My guess is that you'd have a hard time getting even $10.
Nice examples would sell in the range of "a few hundred dollars", so there isn't a lot of demand for one that looks like that, sorry.
@froyohandsup...Welcome aboard.... That is an interesting old medal... unfortunately, it is in a degenerative condition. So no real value other than historical/sentimental. I would certainly keep it if it were mine. Cheers, RickO
Is the medal a metal detector find of a buried item?

Coins on Television
Interesting medal that I'd never seen before.
Shame about the damage.
Thanks for sharing!
1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!
You could always try acetone, ms70 and then suspend it over an ammonia bath. Or not.
Nice historical piece!

Interesting item. BTW-welcome!
There's something very off about that medal, especially if it is supposed to be bronze or pewter. It looks like the surface is peeling off in layers. Copy?
I like it. The name of the road I will be living on by end of May is Robert E. Lee Road and it will not be changing.
Here's the page from the So-Called Dollars website for this piece with photos of a nice specimen:
