IMHO social media like IG, FB, twitter and the like are keeping track of where you go and what you are doing.
If you are OK with that - press on!
This forum is the only form of social media I participate in and I don't think it is capable of tracking me.

There are a lot of accounts that most here would consider "junky". When I joined to find people to follow I found a few accounts that posted really good stuff and looked through the list of people they follow. I found over 75% of the accounts I follow doing that.

I used to worry a lot about that also, but my thinking now is I might miss out on some great coins of interest or anything else of interest if I don't go along with technology.

I understand, but I am reminded of the recent Facebook hack where users data was hacked. Only 2 billion people were affected.
I have never been and never will be a member of Facebook.
And I do not miss it at all.
As I said - press on!

If you use google or any other web browser or search engine you are giving up search data, buying data and possibly location data. Facebook is but one of many mining your data and selling it.
The data points are like rivers and streams all sailing into the ocean. You end up at the same place. If you walk around with a phone, "they" know where you are.
Check out my handle, same name as on here. It's been a fun experience showing coins out in that world, our hosts are out there along with some other forum members as well.
It ultimately is your choice whether or not to participate in social media, but if you are wondering where the younger collectors are, Instagram is one of the places. Sure, they might only show silver dimes or wheat cents but I remember very well that is where I started back in the day.
If you follow hashtags like #rarecoins, #coins, #coincollector, etc, just add the accounts that you see posting thing that you like. There are some decent coins to be seen.

I follow a couple on Instagram... I have seen some nice material... Your choice... just check out a few and add or delete as you see fit. Cheers, RickO

Congrats as now you get to converse with actual 12 year old's, not folks that just act that way
