"Holy Grail" find. 1920 Lincoln Cent. Error?

:Dcoins in pretty bad shape considering the 97 years in circulation. I noticed where it looks like remnants of ear before an ear. Also his eyes area looks to be temple too. His coat is all jacked up. Worth keeping?

It is honestly just a well-circulated cent. Neat that it was found in change, but definitely not a "holy grail" error.

From the photos, it's a sideways circulated cent. Nice to find in circulation.

It's a dinged up, danged up coin. There is nothing "special" about it.

It's fun to look "through" coins, but it becomes an art when you can look "past" some of them.

Enthusiasm and excitement is a good thing but but your chances of finding an unknown variety are much smaller than finding an already recognized one.

If you like the treasure hunt aspect may I suggest looking for the close "AM" varieties of the 1990s or the 1972, 1983, 1984 and 1995 double dies and other known errors/varieties.

IMHO all i see is a well used Wheat penny

Yep... a highly circulated old Lincoln Cent... Not a coin of value. What you see is the result of handling and post mint damage. Have you acquired the Cherry Pickers Guide?? This publication will help you with varieties. Good luck, Cheers, RickO

Years ago my grandson would bring me coins he thought were errors.
I'd tell him they exhibited post mint damage and weren't special at all.
Eventually he got the idea and finally said he was going to start a collection of PMD coins. Not long after he got another idea and spent his collection.

Just another beat up penny. I am a sucker for wheat pennies and keep every one I find. The ones that look like this end up in a jar.
