Ok crew, throw out your expert opinions for the grade of this Jefferson Nickel. You may know that I'm pretty particular about my Jeffersons, so I will not sway anyones opinion with mine. I'll post my opinion and the grade later.

If the scratches are on the plastic, then I would say MS66+ or MS67.... No FS... Cheers, RickO
All the marks you see are on the coin, not the holder.
I'll guess 63 no FS

Looks 67 FS to me.
Then I would say 64.... Cheers, RickO
These days, I wouldn't be surprised if they put a 65 on it. Personally, I would go more 63/64
Despite the late die state, those are nice steps for a '59. I will guess it is either a 63FS or a 64.

64FS? Not crazy about the hack mark on the steps, but looking at some CoinFacts photos, that doesn't disqualify a coin from the FS designation.

Looks like a 67 no FS but with all those scratches, who knows.

I'll say 64....hard to say about the steps. It's to dark on the right to tell.
63 no fs thanks rln
I'm no Jefferson expert...But I'll say 65, no FS.
The thing that stands out to me, (again, not an expert), is the very strong strike on the lettering around the rim, (which is quite pleasing to the eye), but weak centers. Kind of odd, me thinks?
63/64
I’m not a Jeff expert so..... no idea. The strike hasn’t even effaced planchet roughness in the centers. A silver dollar with that would be stuck in the 64 range. FS or no, strike isn’t really very good. Luster seems nice. I just can’t see it any higher than 65 and I’d need a better photo to make the FS call. From these I’d say no.
MS-64 FS
65 FS
63 no fs.

I’m in the 64 crowd. Nice nic!!
1959 Nickels tend to come pretty nice and sometimes PL. even better are 1958's for strike and 1957 for PL'ness. on top of that, Denver always seemed to be able to strike the nicest coins which makes this sort of nice. Nickels were funny, struck pretty nice until the early 50's, then OK from 57-59 and then not very good until the Master was redone prior to 1971.
this coin looks like it has a nice strike with quite a few unstruck planchet flaws, especially on the reverse. understanding all that I think it may have graded MS66 non-Full Steps. from the picture I see 4FS with the 5th weak in the center and a number of bridges.
I hope they didn't call it FS.
I’ll say 64. The strike would warrant an FS but for the scratches through the steps. I think that should preclude the designation.
Kinda scratching my head over this one, why would you want to 'high light' this particular Jefferson? I do not see the DDR, nor do I see Full Steps? The center of the reverse is weakly struck which reveals previous planchet marks plus some PMD marks, the obverse appears normal with LDS featues...I just don't know as I would be guessing.

Everything is all right!
I'm gonna go with a weak struck and planchet marks. Probably got a 66 no FS.

Whatever the grade on the slab is.......nothing.....NOTHING!....would surprise me. High, low, or in between!
Without the marks on the Monticello, 66.
My guess is 65.
Superb luster.
I liked the luster too and thought it might carry it to the 66 grade.
I too believe they graded it 66. I think the great luster carried it all the way to 66, but the planchet marks that were not fully struck out held it back from a 67. I can't tell FS from the image, so I won't guess at that.
I'll go with MS64 No FS but it can be one of those coins that will never be cracked out and is in a MS66FS.
Hoard the keys.
perhaps 63, not FS

So come on Mike....what is the grade???
Not trying to jack his trend, But here are two of mine to compare you can see the soft strike on one but a lot of chatter on the better struck one.
WoW is that yours I saw it ? I don't think it's that grade but if you got that you rec the golden hand shake, A big gift in 7.

Hey crew, thanks for your patience! I hooked out-of-town for a few days and kind of forgot!
I agree with quite a few of you that are in the MS64 or stretch to MS65 without FS designation. I seem to see and have owned quite a few nicely struck and hammered step examples. This coin, to be nice, pretty much sucks! Weak strike, planchet hits all over the place, especially in the face and building, which are the main focal points of the Jefferson. The steps are hacked up as well. So here it is! One of three at this grade with an asking price of $12,000+. It's on ebay. I feel sorry for the person that considered placing this coin in their set! Just my opinion and you can differ, as this is America.
I don't understand how that can happen. Even if you disregard the step count and the flaws, how do they put a weakly struck coin in a 67 holder?
I took a break from licking toilet water to scratching my rear end on this one. Especially for a low pop, top pop coin!

What the...???
That's got to be some sort of 'mechanical error' or this label was destined for another coin. Yikes!

Jimnight, I hate to break this to you, but I'm not sure bragging about your guess on this one is a good thing. I'm just saying!
As a man of rare and discriminating tastes BigDowgie I was thinking at least gem grade wise and FS. And I have no idea how these get graded on a curve. And I will drink water out of a toilet like a dog before I spend real $ on coins like that.
