I have much foreign coinage and NO CLUE of it's origin or value. Your info is appreciated
What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?

I would use a (probably older) Krause catalog to get a rough idea. I have found https://en.numista.com/ is a good site for searching info other than prices.

Well, I am looking for prices, too. Identification, is however, crucial
Your public library might have a Krause book or two.
Keeper of the VAM Catalog • Professional Coin Imaging • Prime Number Set • World Coins in Early America • British Trade Dollars • Variety Attribution
Pictures would help too.

Searchable database; enter Country and date, then use the pull-down for denomination. Excellent resource.
Edited to add: You asked about catalogs - I've got Krause and they are very helpful, but I've found that I use them much less since the website I referenced came fully online.
Check out my current listings: https://ebay.com/sch/khunt/m.html?_ipg=200&_sop=12&_rdc=1
I have some old, large silver coins from Germany... My Dad had them for a long time, and then I got them. I guess I should get a Krause catalog....I am sure they are worth much more than melt.... They honor the birth of twins to some dignitary... do not recall the details right now. I could likely get answers on the World Coin forum... guess I will try that first. Cheers, RickO
The Krause catalog is the most comprehensive. It's pricing, however, is not terribly accurate. You can get a ball park idea, but like most retail price grades it has a tendency to inflate value.
At the risk of being banned, I would also point out that another TPGS has a world coin guide on their web site.
I like the NGC site the best for quick search on info & pricing
Best place to buy !

I hate to actually say it. But if you use Ebay in a certain search-way, you proobabaly will find what you are looking for, togather with current asking and past sold pricing.
You have named them that cannot be named.
