This makes for a pretty good day!

The other day I had a few errands to run including a stop at the bank. One of the checks I had was for $2.04, a dividend check I get every quarter from 2 shares of McDonalds my grandparents bought me when I was born. Due to the small amount I usually cash them and think nothing of it. It is a small local bank with only a few locations and I decided this time I would get 4 Kennedy halves I could put back into circulation. From previous experience I know the tellers don't really care for halves and are happy to get rid of them when they can. I asked for four halves instead of two $1 bills and the cashier pulled out an envelope that had $25.50 written on it and was loose, not the usual roll. She said that was all she had and asked if I wanted it all. Beings I had already deposited my other checks I said four should be fine. She handed me those four and I went on my way.
Once I got to my car I pulled them out and BAM, 1967! Nice find, one for four. I figured even if that is the only silver in those halves I could still find a way to spend $25 worth of halves over time so I went back in and asked for the rest. She was happy to give me the rest of the halves. Anyways I went out to my car and sorted through them quickly. 10 40%ers and 3 90%ers. I can live with that! All appear to be AU/BU, a little gunk on one of the 90%ers but for face I can live with it.

Be sure to ask that teller to save halfs for you in the future. Nice lucky score. Thanks for putting coins back in circulation too.

The gunk on the 1964 pictured is very old tape residue, so it's likely that coin spent a long time in an album. Looks like someone broke up a collection and simply deposited the coins.

Gosh I remember being a kid paying for ice cream with half dollars and running home for bills to get the rest of their silver. Now it's a rare occasion to make out like you did OP. Nice snag!

Nice! I've gotten silver at the banks before, but it's been a while.
It sure is fun when you do find it!

Contrast this experience with the other thread on searching a box of half dollars. You found more silver than the average box search yield from several boxes.

Crazily enough the '67 I got at the credit union the other day was similarly gunked up with tape residue. Teller didn't think I'd want a dirty coin!
