I am not liking these full slab Secure Plus / Gold Shield images

I like to take a "closer look" at coins that I may be interested in, especially if they have the Secure Plus / Gold Shield logos on the information insert, but some of them are coming up with full slab images that are not TrueViews;

Having the full slab image is nice if you are selling, but the full blown TrueViews are better.
I believe that I read that the full slab, Gold Shield images, are taken overseas (Paris?).
What do you think?

I don't like them either. I hope they never do that here. If they do I will stop using the service! These pics are worthless!
Does this reinforce the transition from the coin being most important to the label being most important?
ONLY A GUESS: I think it may be a way to ID both the coin and the slab. Additionally, it will save admin work as now the coin can be kept with the order and only True-Viewed on the way out. Think how easy. Put a sticker on the slab during the QC step and that particular coin gets an image. If I were PCGS, then I would charge more for the coins imaged outside the slab.
They've been doing that for quite awhile now, no? Taking pictures of better coins where the submitter has not requested a TV. Doessn't NGC take pix of all or almost all coins?
...and the NGC images are worse!

They do this for PCGS Europe, not PCGS here. Not sure why they do it different there, but no worry, no plans for that here.
Part of this could be documentation done at the overseas satellite offices for the mother ship in the US. Also, I assume there's no photo staff there for good pictures. It appears that their photo setup has an array of LED lights set up to light slabs evenly and consistently, and that their white balance is off a little. Too purple.

This is correct, these are not graded in the US.
With Secure, now called Gold Shield a TrueView request does not need to be requested. A TrueView is supplied as part of the service at no extra charge. Even if the coin is in a Details holder it will be TrueViewed.

I would not like it either if I were paying for this service. I definitely want the focus of the photo to be on the coin.

Those are terrible images of the coin
Yuk. This is the best you can get from that photo.

These images are for coins graded at the Hong Kong, Shanghai or Paris offices.

I like the old closeup Secure Plus scans better.
Of course it’s nice to also have a slab view in addition to a close-up (TrueView, CoinFacts or Secure Plus) for anti-counterfeiting purposes, similar to Heritage.
I would prefer both myself; the TrueView and the full slab images.

I believe I read in a thread about a month or so ago, that the offices in Europe will eventually do TruViews also... there is a matter of training and equipment being addressed. Cheers, RickO
These photos are free. Some people want a photo of the holder. TrueViews are always available by request or through the Gold Shield service.
yikes cant see the coin much at all. does not justice for that piece
Best place to buy !
