Springfield, IL show pickups!
Well I didn't buy a whole lot today but I did grab a few nice pieces. This show seemed more crowded than the last few times I've gone and the dealers I talked to all said they were doing pretty well there.
We'll start with what I think is the star of the show, although not rare and not very expensive, a 1955 Proof Franklin with very pleasing color. I saw it in the dealer's case in its PR68 holder and thought it must be one of those one sided cameos since the obverse looked strong enough to warrant a cam.
Naturally I asked to take a closer look since I like attractive Franklins. I flipped it over to see the other side and to my surprise it was equally as attractive and also cameo! Looks like PCGS was very hard on this one, I would call this cameo all day long.
My photos do not do this coin justice. This is my new favorite proof Franklin.
Next is just a nice '09 VDB in 66RD I've had my eye on for a while.
From the same dealer I got the Franklin from, I also picked up this '28-S Peace Dollar in NGC 64. It's a nice coin but I had the hardest time photographing it, still not satisfied with how they came out.
Those were the only "big" coins I picked up. The rest were low dollar coins that I just liked the looks of and several Jeffersons to continue filling out an old album. Had a chance to meet @DIMEMAN and chat for a while at the end of the show, it was a good time.
Here are a few of the misc coins if anyone cares to see them. These are pretty random and probably boring to most.
This one was a whole Dollar! I thought the color was interesting.
@DIMEMAN is this an RPM you are familiar with? I'm not real sure whats going on but it sure looks like that could be part of another D peeking out.

Nice pickups...I really like the Franklin.
The VDB is nice too...as well as the nice subdued BN 1909. I like it when they look like that, real mellowed subdued brown,,,,,just chillin'.
That's a great show. I wasn't able to make it this year but I usually walk it.
Haven't set up there is a few years...if it was that crowded might have to give it a go again.
Nice pickups and I wonder if the haze is holding that 28-s back a point. (Hard to say without seeing the other side!)
Nice coins!! It's always fun and exciting coming back from a show with a great group of coins like this. I'm looking forward to the local show coming up here at the end of the month.
Nice report. Great pickups too! Like both 1909s! I’d be happy with all those coins!
Nice meeting you Chris. I got to see all of those coins in hand except some of the raw ones and the 28-S Dollar was very nice.
And yes, the 42-D Dime is RPM-1.
Nice report on show pickups..... Nice Merc RPM.... Thanks for the report.... Cheers, RickO
Nice grouping of NEWPS!

Thanks! I actually didn't notice it when I bought it, it was just a nice Merc for a fair price. I only noticed after I took the picture.

A 1952 P Washington Quarter in that condition is tougher than you'd expect.
Nice buys.
All nice coins! That raw 1909 resembles a matte proof with those large rims, but maybe it's just the camera angle.

Oh, NO!
Not again!

nice scores.
The reverse pic should be showing up. It's a decent 64, a 28-s in 65 is practically a unicorn. I might send it off to cac through my local dealer, but first it really needs a new holder. These NGC holders almost seem to scratch themselves, I had to polish this one quite a while to get it to photograph half decently.
That's one if the reasons I like it. The flat rims are the only resemblance of a MPL, none of the other diagnostics are there unfortunately.
