Numismatic reports covering increasing population figures?

Are there any numismatic publications covering increasing population figures across the various coin series? With the hoards of gold coins I've heard coming out of Europe I would think there would be dedicated analysis of various increases.

I have heard about this 'flood' of gold coming from Europe... though it has all been anecdotal and I have not seen any authoritative reports substantiating this information. It could be true, though I see no justification for such PM movement at this time. Does anyone have information other than 'he said, she said' commentary?? Cheers, RickO

I have no idea why we don't see the level of statistical and factual rigor we see in many other hobbies. Month by month or year by year increases wouldn't be that hard to do reports on. Is this proprietary, where the big boys have the information and the dealers and collectors for the most part don't?

I've heard the rumors, but whenever I ask for facts, the story teller suddenly has to use the restroom.

Someone would have to keep track of the pop reports. I do this for Liberty Nickels. When the group of original 1912-S rolls were graded, I was baffled by the way the numbers were changing. I was thinking I had a data input issue. When I found out about these rolls, the big changes all made sense.

Would be easier in the days where the pop reports were on paper and mailed out each month. If you had these in hand, you could follow any series you choose.

If there is a true "flood", I would think the grading services would report on it as they would have the "hard" data of coins being graded. We certainly know about the 1857-S $20's coming up from the ocean floor.

The true rarity of some coins will always be speculative. I agree with all of what was said in this thread.

Note that I said "some" coins.

Quantity "graded" is not quantity submitted.
