...bid up to over $180?

Are people that screwed up, or am I missing something.

Cheers

Most likely two board members messing with the seller. When the coin is received they will file a SNAD against the seller and request a full refund.

Maybe they can send it to China and have it slabbed in an ersatz PCGS holder?

Just when I think nothing out there could amaze me, well something amazes me. This one is a mystery for sure.

Yep... gone ... Though, I have seen stated fakes sold on ebay before.... not sure why, perhaps some collectors look for samples as educational tools... I have a couple I picked up, knowing they were fake, for that reason. Cheers, RickO

I've bought two fakes in my collecting career. About 20 years ago I paid $1500 for a 16d Merc and a 93s Morgan. I was pretty sure the Morgan was fake (as was the seller) but we both thought the dime was genuine. I sent them both in an got them both back in body bags. Well the seller gave me my money back and let me pick one to keep for my trouble (and expense). So now I've got fake 93s Morgan that looks like it could grade out to be a VF.

only 1893 I have is the Columbian Exposition and it is in pretty good shape considering. I do have a nice fake 1887 that I have been playing around with. It might of looked better if it had a more silver look. LOL
