Only the 3rd known Franky in a PCGS sample slab!
"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko, Big Moose.

Omg
Is there something about this one specifically? Or are all OGH samplers getting big bucks? I think I have a couple P$ samples laying around somewhere.
A good liberty nickel went for $203 earlier this week.
Only 3 Franklin half PCGS samples known, all 3 different generations.
The only unique type coin now is a Merc. dime in a very odd PCGS sample.
Samples are going up! That's a very impressive result.
Have a pic of the Merc?
Who supplies the plastic to PCGS? I want to invest!
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Ok, who bought it?
We know you're in here!

...you started a revolution bro...that must feel Cool...Congrats
I think the sample with no coin and a 1933 $20 Gold Label (If I recall the sample correctly) would bring a lot more, no? If in a 30 day auction or something like that?

wow, I wonder if they got 15% eBay Bucks
I bid $999 - not sure who the winner is.
Here's the merc and the 1933 $20 - both pretty cool but the bigger the coin, the bigger the bids!
Last year I was offered a group of samples and was asked to make an offer - the lot included a rattler Franky sample - there was a very pregnant pause when he heard my offer. He thought the offer was crazy so threw in a few more pieces in the deal.
Caps at $100
@Lakesammman The 1933 $20 is a bigger coin than the Franklin Half.
I'm not in the game but still believe that sample would go for more. Meh, what do I know? lol

It looks like the gasket for the $20 is the same side as the dime's.

Nice !
OMG!!!!!
So much for all of those that preach buy the coin and not the holder........
But maybe the holders need to be graded as well for scratches and hairlines, and they should not be cleaned or messed with in any possible way either.
OINK
Imagine saying that for the 1933 double eagle sample above
Can you imagine what the sample with a different color paper stock would sell for?
Geez !!!
Stop bye my table at Baltimore I have some to sell
amazing

Bring them to Melville!

Amazing... sample slabs seem to be having a renewed interest lately... I know, some members here have always been interested... but there have been a few significant sales in the recent month or two... Cheers, RickO

.....or a cricket in it.
Interesting - someone just let me know the seller listed a second one for a BIN of $1250!
Interesting sales strategy - now that's no longer one of a kind, raise the price!
He he!

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
I know the owner of the 1933 $20 sample slab. He's a member on the Forums.
Offer $999 and let us know what happens!
You said there were only 3 Franklins in sample slabs. Is that only for OGH sample slabs?
If you sent the 33 $20 in for error designation, maybe you could get them to call it a 100% clip.

Maybe he has a box of 20 of them? Lol
Hmmm, maybe I need to list all of my samples...

China now finds it profitable and worthwhile to counterfeit sample slabs.......since no one cares much about the coin inside....
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Bochiman:
Don't think I haven't thought of that!
Ilikemonsters - only 4 Franklin PCGS samples that I know of, other than the made for profit ones peddled by Fast Coin. Do you know of others?
ARGH!!!
Is there any value in Kennedy halves or is it just the "rare" Franklin halves?
I do. Will PM you in the morning about them.
This is the first Franklin to be auctioned off that I have seen. Didn't know that there was 4 different/other ones.

You need to bookmark the PCGS Sample threads and check them now and then.
So far 4 known, 3 different styles, unless ilikemonsters can point out more.
The third picture below was auctioned off in 2004 for $265, a sample record at the time, according to SS.com
The 1st and 3rd are unique, 2 known of the middle one.
So are halves rare in general or just the Franklins?
Kennedy is very common, Franklins very rare.
Thanks!
You are.

I find it hard to believe someone would pay $1250 after finding out it's not a unique sample and the prior brought $1009.....will have to check watchcount in a day or 2.
Do you have 1st hand knowledge of what it sold for?
Expensive samples, but certainly NOT the records for PCGS Samples on eBay... not even close...
Sold for $3449.99 on eBay
