Question on Places to Sell Coins

i have decided to try to start buying and selling coins. I am going to be at the more low end/Low grade stuff. I have stuff listed here, eBay, Facebook sites, Local Coins Auctions and Craigslist. Are there any other forums like this to list stuff for sale? I am doing this on a small scale to see if I can make a run at it over time. Thanks for you help in advance.

You can make a business of it with hard work and knowledge.

Ebay is a great venue for this. I built a profitable business on ebay.

Today, for example, (if you got the 15% ) coupon, you can get some deals on inventory.

A listing in the yellow pages/phone book would probably help a lot.

Seems you have most of your bases covered unless you want to set up at some smaller, local shows -- those can be fun because of the camaraderie and occasionally seeing some good coins walk up to the table.

You might also consider setting up your own website. There are applications that make it pretty easy to do nowadays.

IMO the most important things are to not get in too deep financially at first (stressful!) and to definitely have fun. Good luck!

Apparently they do. I still get a yellow pages every year. There are plenty of elderly who aren't necessarily internet savvy.

Also go to nextdoor.com and get enrolled for your hood.

Not sure this would help as I will not have a store front.

I'm not sure I'd go the nextdoor route. Letting your whole neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods know that you buy and sell coins is more information than I'd like to share especially if you keep inventory in your home. Just something that I wouldn't do.

I agree with you. I try not to keep inventory at my house.

Make sure you get listed on google, more and more are using. Phone book adds are dying out fast. In fact this is the last year I am spending the money on phone book listings. I did it for a few elderly folks who still use it.

Do not bring people to your home period, this is dangerous. Meet at a public place, and if you get established enough, you may consider an less expensive office suite or something of that nature. Some folks with better stuff wont meet on a whim in a public place(they will feel your not legit)

ebay , the forum and local shops and shows are good venues to move the items you buy.

Good advice above.... plenty of venues, however, pay strict attention to security. We hear several times each year of members being burglarized.... Security both in the home/business and enroute to and from shows is super important. Best of luck in your endeavor.... Cheers, RickO

Thanks everyone for the great advice. I have a first year Goal of Net profit of $15K. So we will see how close I can come to that goal.

IMO, yesterday was a key day to building the inventory of a small coin business, if you got the 15% ebay coupon.

You could have maxed it out at $500 like I did. I bought only coins that had super eye appeal that I would be proud to show off in my inventory. The 500 dollar credit will be used to buy more inventory in a couple of weeks.

Depends on what area of the country. Out in the Midwest, they're still using phone lines from when the railways were built.

Sometimes it do seem that way. Thinking about upgrading to 2 cans and a string.

Haha sometimes it actually is that way. I worked fiber coax and phone lines for 5 years out there. Some places can't get dialup. Others rely on old two-pair wires that have practically been absorbed by tree branches. I've entered many homes and the last phone they had was a party line lol.
