Here is a direct link to the subject coin. Definitely stunning. Note the estimated price range of $500,000 to $535,000. I guess that is a bargain compared to what one dated one year later previously sold for in auction.

Out of curiosity, assuming the normal EBay fees how would that compare to the fees likely incurred in a conventional auction such as one by Heritage?

I would like to hear opinions on why the seller chose ebay to sell a collection of this magnitude

Could one assume that the entity putting these on eBay cut a special fee deal? BTW, amazing coin just barely out of my reach :disappointed:

Its no secret this set has been for sale for a while. Obviously the owners feel Ebay is a better venue then a place like a Heritage. I dunno, sounds like a fishing expedition or they want too much in my opinion.

is there anyone on ebay with that kind of cash?

Not my series so honest question here - is it really a 66+ with the hit on the rev and the chatter on the leg?

Selling on ebay may actually be cheaper, I heard somewhere that Ebay has a maximum commission charge, it that true? If it is, may save lots of $$.
    This is an amazing set.

plus, it doesn't have a green bean. Think I'll hold on to my paper investments.

On another Top Pop ebay note - this 1911-D PCGS MS67 Saint is available from Rare Coin Wholesalers.

I must say these PCGS holders are starting to look similar to the competition: ebay.com/itm/1911-D-ST-GAUDENS-20-PCGS-MS-67

I'd be shocked if this sells, considering this has been floating around the market and it's going to be sold as a "complete set" will be a major turnoff.

    Great looking coins.

It would be good to hear why the 1932 didn't CAC or PQ.

Insertion fee First 50 free per month, then $0.30 after those are used up*

There were two principal groups of 1932 DE among 86 sold by Treasury to collectors and others.

50 to Spencer S. Marsh. Newark, NJ; January 16, 1932.
09 to George F. Dieterle. Cincinnati, OH; September 9, 1932.

Too many marks for a 67.

It is a beautiful gold coin...no doubt about that... a 67 though? Unless those marks are not real... and they sure look real... Cheers, RickO

Lacking CAC validation, would anyone on these boards give this coin serious consideration?

If one is considering spending a lot of money, then CAC or anything else is unimportant. Look at the coin and decide.

It certainly may not be the deciding factor, but you think JA's opinion is unimportant?

  • RogerBRogerB Posts: 8,852 ✭✭✭✭✭

I think the buyer's opinion is the ONLY one that is important. Consider input from others, but nothing matches that of the one whose money and hobby goal are on the line.
