I love those old ANA holders. It looks like it could possibly be nicer than a 63 as well.
Love the coin, love the holders. I have quite a few, toned also.

Pretty....I like the old ANACS holders also. Thanks for posting!

Does anyone know how their numbering system worked at that time?

Love the old alpha-numeric ANACS holders, especially the 1st gen ANA ones.

These holders seem to give coins the same blues, purples, around the rim. I dig them too.
@Bikingnut This should be a good starting point...

One of my little side projects is to collect Morgans and Peace dollars (I have to like the coin) in these holders. I am slowly working towards trying to get a coin for each of the alpha codes.
My research (perhaps someone could confirm) is that the 1st generation ANA holders (gold label) begin with these codes:
CD, JK, KP, LO, LP, MJ, NJ, RD, TR, TS, WD, WF, WR and XA
The 2nd generation AMOS/ANACS holders begin with these codes:
EX, PG, PK, RE, SC, SX, WE and ZD
Jeff
To add, I think one of the codes (XA if I remember) was used strictly for show grading. Perhaps someone could confirm that.

I took a look through my pics and only have these. More are locked away in the safe.
2 ANA holders and one old ANACS holder. All of them exhibit nice natural toning,
not super toned but nice. I love them as they are reasonable and small little stackers

Those show a type of grading that was definitely about the hobby not making money. Who were the graders there early on?

Nice!

Outside of PCGS and NGC, these are my favorite slabs.

XA was the first code used. Not sure about the order after that.
Those alpha-numeric holders are my favorites. Most of my Morgan collection was housed in those slabs until I crossed a majority of them to PCGS, usually matching ANACS' grades spot on.

@coinsarefun picture of a 1st gen ANA holder with the 'RE' prefix cast some doubt for me on my research. I looked at some other notes I had written down and perhaps these three -- EX, NJ and RE might come in both the ANA and AMOS/ANACS versions. @illini420 I think you had mentioned something previously about those 'XA' prefix holders. Did they start with those first as @IrishMikey stated perhaps introducing the service at shows? If anyone else can confirm the list of prefixes to generation I would appreciate it.
Jeff
Randy Campbell was one for sure and I think Mike Fahey???? I remember his face but maybe not the name.
I do not have any first-hand information on this matter, just what I've read and learned from others who may have better information. Here's an interesting "XA" holder that I once sold... only 3 digits instead of the usual 4 digits after the two-letter code:
