Why Apmex?

rln_14rln_14 Posts: 686 ✭✭✭✭

When buying my silver bullion, I have never used Apmex, because they are higher priced than other PM dealers. In these threads, I have seen where Apmex is the PM dealer of choice. I am curious as to why? Any comments would be appreciated....Thanks rln

Not everyone searches for the cheapest price. Some prefer to buy from a company based on reputation and/or past experience.

I would not say that APMEX is the dealer of choice, but is a dealer of choice.

There are times when APMEX has sales and they are a really good deal.
Sometimes, that is on ebay and their items may qualify for 6x, 8x, or even 10x ebay ebucks. Possible to get some items for a pretty good deal then......

I've also found that, when dealing with APMEX, I get MUCH QUICKER shipping and service through ebay with them than I do just purchasing from their site....plus, I can use a CC buying from them through ebay without paying extra (as long as the original price is a good deal, it is really worth it to me)

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

They are only a dealer of choice when they offer a good deal. There are several others offering the same or similar deals on eBay.

They do have good deals every so often, more on the bay it seems. And shipping is usually dead spot on.

Out of the big guys they are probably who I buy from the least. But I did just purchase something from them as they were actually the cheapest. And as others have stated they sometimes have good sales.

Their ebay deals are usually the best prices out of any of the major online dealers. Fastest shipping of all of them, I have easily done 70 transactions with the big A and never had to wait more than 1 business day for my items to ship. MCM, BPM etc I have waited several weeks on occasion. Best customer service in the industry, hands down.

BPM warn't too bad but IIRC their packaging for a one ounce AGE was overkill.

Thanks everyone for your input. it is appreciated. Just did another compare with three different companies and Apmex, Apmex was the most expensive for a 1oz random silver round. But, upon further review though, Apmex has a much better selection of pre 1982 silver commemoratives, proof and unc ASE's, mint and proof sets, other rare coins. i do not get to hung up on delivery times, since the price is locked in at the time of purchase, i can wait a little longer sometimes. thanks again for your responses...rln

Personally, I'd avoid exotic silver items. ASEs, maybe 5 or 10 ounce bars.

Whenever there is 10% ebuck I go for links such as below:

    apmex for random Saint
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/20-Saint-Gold-Double-Eagle-MS-64-NGC-PCGS-Random-SKU-163589/112828504409

    Mcm for some silvers
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Grab-Bag-of-5-Random-Year-1-oz-American-Silver-Eagle-Coins-SKU39414/382031327181

the lowest I got this year for 5 random ase was around $17 each (daily deal of $95 plus 10% ebucks.)
