I know many of you love classical themes on coins, so I’d like to bring to your attention an Italian medallic artist out there who has an incredible body of work. She’s also designed a couple of Kagin’s catalog covers (keeping this US-centric to an extent).
Check her out on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sandra_coin_designer
And if you’d like to see more, here’s another coin artist named Miroslav Hirc:

Both artists have created some very excellent work. I'm very impressed!

Excellent artistic workmanship as applied to medallic art.
Nice work! Be sure to check out Heidi Wastweet's work, also. [ http://www.wastweetstudio.com/ ]
One advantage Miroslav Hirc has is that the minting is done with correct attention to camber and intersect angles - something the US Mint folks refuse to do. Mr. Hirc's coins therefore are much crisper and well defined than any of the Mint's products except for the gold quarter and half dollar of 2016.
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve just followed Heidi.

Oh, yeah!
All three of these engravers are stunningly good. In my opinion the last brilliant engraver employed by the U.S. mint was Elizabeth Jones. I think her work is head and shoulders above any of her epigones at the mint.
She does beautiful work... as do the other linked artists. I wish the Mint would leave coin design and execution up to such artists.... stop this ridiculous commercialism and PC coinage...Cheers, RickO
None of the artists mentioned above, or other top professionals, could design a coin for the paltry sum the US Mint pays. Fraser received $1,500 for the nickel in 1913... a century ago! Today, the mint should be paying closer to $50,000 for a complete, top quality design.
The medal is not listed for sale yet on the Italian Mints website --> http://www.zecca.ipzs.it/servlet/collezione?cod_tipol=3&indiceTipo=1&cod_colle=002
You can also see the various designs from 1986-current. I like 2011 in silver!
PS - There is an English language page after choosing "Ordina" (Order). Click the British Flag at the top of the page. Also, you can toggle between bronze and silver (brozno and argento) by clicking the options below the image.
Heidi is a member of the US Mint's CCAC, and is thus prohibited from entering all mint competitions.
While Heidi may not be able to submit into US Mint competitions, she's done a number of Maui Trade Dollars including this year's. The following photo is from Heidi.

It’s clear that there’s a lot of talent out there, and I think they should have free-reign when it comes to their art. If that means more NCLT so be it as far as I’m concerned.
