What's up with 1985 tiffany Clemens rookies?

So tiffany Clemens rookies were selling for $3000 consistently as recently as last summer. We have had 4 sales this year between $4300 and $5500. One was just listed for $7450. I know that seller is shooting for the moon, but is there something going on that I don't know about? There was also the outlier sale of the psa 10 regular topps for $1200 last week. I guess people are believing he will make it into the hall. Whatever is going on, it is fascinating.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I think there is already a thread about this.

See Barry Bonds and Pete Rose. For some players the HOF has little or nothing to do with card value.

All it takes is a couple collectors with deep pockets wanting any particular card and prices will jump.

On this particular card, it might be that the '84 Fleer Update was considered the more desirable card because it came out first and was seemingly "rare". Since there are TEN TIMES as many PSA10 1984 Updates as Topps Tiffany, coupled with the fact that "Traded/Update" cards were never considered rookie cards, this doesn't seem surprising.
