Obnoxious and/or offensive replies come with the territory on this board. Be patient and you'll get some serious responses, I hope. There are actually some intelligent and mature members here.

Maybe change the title to "What VAM# is this?"

Agreed, I am not real knowledgeable about VAMs', but I am almost for sure certain that there is more than one "1878 7 tail feather" with doubled denticles. Close up and full coin images could generate more positive responses.

    Dentals

you might have gotten "ragged on" for using the wrong word, but it's something you'd better get used to if you intend to have any fun at this site. also, I would suggest posting pictures with a question like this. there are enough members here who know VAM's that you should get a quick answer.

BTW, the word(s) you are looking for is dentil which is "old school" or denticle which is in more modern usage.

I thought it was the other way around with denticle and dentil.

    Something new every day.

But hey OP don't get discouraged from a single post on the internet. This is a great place to learn and people have fun once in awhile like any other part of the internet.

Except these guys are all pretty smooth.

Interesting Keets. I should have replied just the opposite as I never saw the word "dentil" until sometime in the late 1980's when some researcher used it in a reference book. So AFAIK, they were called denticals before that. That's why I cringe whenever is see "dentil used." This is not a right or wrong thing - just a curiosity. I'm going to start a discussion to satisfy myself. Thanks

    What is a "Van#"? :p

OP, with all due respect, you should lighten up a bit. I am am the first to acknowledge that this place can be a little tough on new members (that was my own impression) but you just need to wade in and find your niche.

You asked about "dentals" and "Van#", so the jesters who sometimes provide some levity around here had an easy time of it.

Also, without pictures, the people such as myself who don't know very much about VAMs will not learn anything from your quiz. Why not educate the less informed while you are testing the knowledge of those who are experienced with these things?

When I saw the thread title of "Dentals", I thought this thread was going to be about the Bugs Bunny variety of the Franklin Half. :/
