The Erie Canal completion medal, Ex: John J. Ford:
While it's Ex: John J. Ford, there is a more personal connection, as a couple miles of the actual Erie Canal run through a family member's property. Last year, in conjunction with the Bicentennial celebration of starting work on the Canal, the local county repaved their portion of the "Towpath" and began restoring the locks along the canal.

Some gorgeous coins here..... @Tomthemailcarrier ...That 1866 gold is incredible....Cheers, RickO
Thank you @ricko. Several years ago I had Doug Winter seek out an 1870 cc half eagle for me that was graded AU 50. I really liked owning a condition census coin for the years that I had it. I decided to diversify a bit since that was a lot of money for me to have in one coin. ( I truly am a retired letter carrier). He recommended two different early gold coins that he had recently acquired. One of those was the 1866 gold proof that had a mintage of 30. I treasure them both. We are all only temporary holders of history that our coins represent. I feel fortunate to have these two. They are keepers!
That looks familiar... glad it found a good home. Your quarter eagle collection is awesome. I actually bought it unstickered on eBay about 8 years ago and was elated when it got a gold bean.
