My Dad’s Cut of 1950s

Quick family story.....

As a kid my Dad collected 51-54. He saved his cards but not until after he cut up the cards to put in scrapbooks. !! He had this made a few years ago and as he approaches 80 is passing this into me. It’s become a family heirloom and will be passed to my kids one day. A reminder for me of how our hobby goes beyond graded cards and eBay sales and can be passed through generations.

—-yes that is an Aaron rookie :)

That's as beautiful as any card display I have ever seen. A really REALLY cool piece. Would look great as part of a displayed collection OR a standalone piece.

    Thanks for sharing!

If you can get beyond the idea of the potential value of the cards if they were uncut, it is an amazing looking piece. This is truly something that reminds us that this is still just a hobby and each person has his/her own way of enjoying it. I'm sure it will be appreciated by your family for a long time!

    Very nice display item!

And as far as cutting up the cards...better this than throwing them out in the trash can in the 1950's, right? :)

Oh and my Dad also cut up autographs as a kid too.

That’s my grandfather (who worked in baseball PR) in middle of Dolph Camille and a guy named George Herman.

What am amazing story, incredible memories for your family and an awesome baseball card display. I would be proud to hang that on my wall despite the depreciated value of these cards. To me, these cards are even more valuable than anything a price guide would say.

I think I may have found something to do with all of those Topps Archives cards I have laying around.

I am on a budget and I am not afraid to use it!!

Awesome display. That is also a great photo with Ruth and Camilli! Is it signed by both? Would also love to see more pics of the autograph collage to see who is included.

Stone / Mike, thanks for posting a better pic. My scanning skills are poor.

I am working on posting a more detailed view of the specific autos.

Also have the family Crown Jewels “core 5” coming my way - self obtained autos my Dad got - all via mail back in the day.....Cobb, Cy Young, Rogers Hornsby, Tris Speaker and Honas Wagner. These were also all on 3/5 index cards and except for Tris, he cut them to fit into the pics. Oh well, one day may get them slabbed but for now they are good enough as is with the photos.

He sure had a real steady hand to do such a neat/precise job on the cutting out of the cards. Hardly notice any flaws in the cutouts.
