How would you handle this; here's what I did, did I over react?

So I have a card listed on ebay for $40; guy sends a offer for $25. I accept & send a follow up saying I offer free shipping with $35 combined purchase. I also offer PWE for $1 but not for graded cards. He pays $26 {25+1} (reg shipping is $4). He sends a buyers message I thought shipping was free; because ebay lists card as free promotional shipping {assuming you add to cart and order is over 35}. So rather than have a conflict I cancel and refund; and send him an email saying card is relisted; if you want to pay 25 which is fair send offer for 21 and I'll accept. I am not trying to seem petty I just wanted to make sure he was happy. I understand why worry about such a small thing; I was just curious what others think/thought.

I have to much S**t; so if you working on sets or are a player/team collector, send me your want list, with conditions desired. Keep in mind I have a another job so please allow me a few days to respond.

Would be nice to know what the card was.

So you had $26.00 in hand, cancelled the sale and then you were willing to accept $25?

If you are willing to get $25 for a card listed for $40, why not just ship it for $1 and be done with it.

agree; and yeah; I took 25 vs 26; I guess I am an idiot sometimes.

I guess it worked out; guy sent offer for 21 with buyers note "thank you". Wheat~ I was actually thinking it was a bad move on my part and customer would be upset and I would lose sale completely and customer; I guess I was wrong.

I would have just sent him a dollar back with his card with a note. I've done that a few times when bidders have overpaid in shipping.

actually he underpaid; but I was fixing ebay's misleading listing; I was curious about other opinions.

I don't think you did anything wrong. HOWEVER, as I'm sure we all know, eBay is chock-a-bock full of DSM-5 outliers. By canceling, refunding, asking for them to repurchase, etc you opened yourself up to get lambasted for absolutely no logical reason. I consider eBay buyers to be like sleeping bears, just choose the path of least resistance and move on. It doesn't matter that what you were doing was for their benefit. Some people have no relationship at all with logic and some people are just looking for an excuse. Just my $0.02

As long as you and buyer are satisfied, it's a good deal.

Honestly, if a seller cancelled my bid and said to do the same price again, I'd think they were pulling some sort of scam and would not buy from them. Unless it was some super rare numbered card, there's always another out there that won't require jumping through hoops to get.

While you're not doing the cancelled bid scam like in the 51 Mantle thread, that is what I would instantly think of.
