That sure took a while to find, but I'm sure you feel elated to finally have it.

    Congrats on your pickup.

    Haha thanks folks!

It's a cute coin. Over the years I've always kept lamination nickels. Simple easy things like V nickels, wartime, ones prone to odd clad layers and older mixing techniques that caused them to happen so much. Lots of circulated V nickels and 30s/40s Jefferson.. metal retained or missing.

I was bored on ebay and figured OK, I've done enough legwork, I've got a bunch of newps for the neph, I wonder what they've got for lamination nickels..

It was serendipitous. I've always wanted one and as a kid, when I was actively collecting nickels as much as a kid can, and as I grew older they became ancillary coins just hanging out with the incomplete planchets and blanks. I've always wanted a nice type 1 5c 1913 in nice condition. Two birds one stone. (Except now I need a lot more of the different varieties of both types at all mints, lol). I sold a pretty nice 1913 type 1 a few years ago and really regret it.

Hopefully it won't take until I die to find the rest of the 1913 delaminations. Ancillary no more..

I got the "delamination bug" as a boy. Grandpa gave me this 1914-S. One of the few memories I have of my dad's dad. The good old boys were smoking ceegars and talking, trading, selling coins. My brother and I were searching coffee cans and cigar boxes of circs.

I must've grown bored and got annoying. He slipped it in my hand and gave me a 20x loupe (still use it today), mussed my hair and a pat on the ass to skedaddle. He got it in Italy during the war. 40ish years later he gave it to me and 35 years later.. well, here we are today.

I still think it's the coolest coin I own. Worth all of a few bucks or whatever but hey.

((Hope I did the images right as to not be data heavy)).

The coin above really suffers from a very bad Laminectomy.

Well boys, great news! She came last night.

    ... my coin arrived, too.

    :D

Very glad EPU is remaining, even if the buff's back is missing skin. Didn't notice this giant raised metal line in front of the Buffalo's face when I bought it.
