Sigh...another NEWP. And STILL not sticking to a game plan...

How does this correlate to anything else I have purchased this week?

Somehow I got on this kick buying almost everything that comes my way.

The first step, is to recognize there is a problem... :D

If you like it and can afford it, why not buy it?
A "game plan" is for some people and not others.
    Buy what you like.
It doesn't have to be part of a "set" or date run or type set or whatever.
It looks like a nice coin to me, for what that's worth.

Very true. Unless you bought this coin very cheaply I suspect you are going to be disappointed when it comes time to sell.
Try selling it now and you may be cured. (Hint: I don't like the coin or the grade it received.)

I actually bought it with an eye to upgrade. I don't think the correct grade was assigned either. If you can tell from my crappy photography.

Then again, I might just sell it.

    Cheers

You could have knocked me over with a feather! LOL! As to the coin, it's a fine is what it is coin. I think, properly photographed, you could be perfectly fine with what you sell it for; all depends on what you bought it for.

It really is nice. The scratches you see are on the slab.

Game plans need to be flexible! As an example, let's say your a football team that is OK with letting the other team get a big lead with your plan being (and it has been very successful in the past) to stage a late game comeback with a last minute score for the win. Well sometimes that plan does not work and you run out of time. Given a couple more minutes on the clock you most likely could have have won but did not. In this case your plan should have been a bit more flexible and not let the other team get as big of a lead and then worked harder to score before the end of the game. So yep, game plans should be flexible! Also when applied to coins....I started out collecting a classic commem type set but have moved to the 144 piece since prices have come down. Don't know if I will finish it but gonna give it the old college try!

Oh...the example above is not directed at that New England team that I know you are a fan of...just a general example ;)

    Plans are over-rated. ;)

The best I can do is formulate some vague goals....and then justify anything I buy as being somehow related to those goals, no matter how remotely. :)

Nothing wrong with buying something you like, even if it doesn't quite go with the others. I do that all the time. :)

I know the feeling.. lately I've been buying any bargain headed my way. I was going to get back into WQ's, but then SLQ's caught my eye, seated did and then bust.. I'll buy my WQ/SLQ/Barber later but for now trying to get all seated and capped I can get. I think it's my new 10 year goal. Building my little satellite sets as I go. The next 10 years is (sadly) going to bring the passing of a generation of amazing collectors. The market is being flooded and will continue to be flooded with estate sales. Great time to be a buyer I never remember seeing a lot of these for so cheap.

Nice coin and hard to resist.

Three years ago I needed two Seated Dollars to finish my type set, which is my true passion.
Today I still need just one but now have a bunch of other stuff, including about 50 silver Washington Quarters.
    I like the sell advice.

"If I say something in the woods and my wife isn't there to hear it.....am I still wrong?"

My Washington Quarter Registry set...in progress
