Does anybody here collect these? Look at the prices they are asking for on Ebay is there a reason that a Silver Eagle can get this much money for a " Ugly Philadelphia Label "? What because they won the Super Bowl these now assumingly commanding $775.00 for a 1 Ounce coin.
I mean lets be real these are a " Ugly Label right"

Here are some of the links and

Would anybody here actually buy one? I mean I could if I wanted to but is this a waist of money?

"Silver Eagles were recently discovered to have been minted at the Philadelphia Mint in Very Small Quantities since 2015. These Coins, only identifiable from their Sealed Monster Box, are Certified as being among the few coins to come from Philadelphia."

Regardless, it seems like a crazy premium -- especially since the same coin is about $400 cheaper without the First Strike designation:

And the same coin graded MS69 is under $50 on ebay.

If you've got one, sell it quick -- it might develop spots over time. Very tragic if your $775 ASE deteriorates to $50. And IMO it's not worth the risk.

Not surprisingly, the PCGS grade guarantee "shall not apply to coins exhibiting environmental deterioration subsequent to certification, including spotting on modern silver coins."

Thanks for the link I see the difference and I did not have the First Strike I think they were selling for more on APMEX. Had some excuse there were only 9 or so graded. Of course a month later there were 50 of them floating around in the world. PCGS of course NGC does not even compete since PCGS commands better prices on the market with these type coins. The ASE's I am refering too. NGC they will grade anything a 70! I found that out the hard way, and paid for it.

In fact NGC is almost a fraudulent grading scam when it comes to ASE's and other common coin grades.

I remember when the FIRST STRIKE Label was introduced, it was a big deal for some folks on both sides of the fence.

Never thought it would get this crazy. Funny, I like the plain old labels that let you focus on the coin.
