Crack out anything good lately?

Just took a hammer to a really nice 2004 NGC MS69 A.S.E. for my Dansco Album. I gave it a good pounding and it just cracked open like a walnut shell intact. I was very pleased that my coin was left untouched.
Crack out anything lately?
Later, Paul.

It’s been about a month, but I did crack several old ANACS and NGC coins to send to our host. I’m still waiting for the grades to pop.
I do not crack slabs.... the coins I buy, I buy because I like them... no need to go to that trouble. Cheers, RickO
I usually crack instead of cross, unless I think there's a chance for a BB.
For NGC slabs it is better to modestly tap with a hammer around all four edges. (I like to wrap it in a towel beforehand, just for safety.) After a dozen or so blows the slab will split enough for you to gently pry it open without risk of damage to the coin.
PCGS slabs use hard but brittle plastic. So snips or bolt cutters work best. One half inch snip, mid-slab, breaks it in two.
Lance.
I set a recent Roman aureus purchase free from an NGC slab with a hammer. In hindsight, I should have been more gentle considering the cost (high five figures) but I've become pretty accustomed to destroying slabs.
This was in an older Accugrade slab i bought a while back. It was pretty much overgraded and after wishing it was in a PCGS holder, I cracked it out although I took a chance that it wouldn't grade because of possible QC. Came back as a 64.
