    I found a melted SLQ once while metal detecting. I can only imagine it was the result of a long ago campfire. It took me while to figure out what it was, only after finding minute details with a magnifier.

    Having melted about a dozen SAEs it looks like coin silver melted down then struck with a hammer? The cracks make me think that, as well as the flat bottom and repeated outlines of a hammer blow.

    If anyone wonders, I was making 1/4th oz dog tags for my friend’s dogs.

    I had a customer bring in a 50 lb piece of stuff that WAS his coins.
    I never took a picture.

    it was ugly.

    This was not silver.
