Better to auction Latin American at NYINC or ANA?

If you were the consignor, which venue would you choose?

ANA. And Mexican particularly doesn’t do very well at NYINC.

Good question... Given that the large majority of bidders are on their living room a thousand miles away, does it matter? I assume as long as bidders are aware of the pieces, and Heritage, Stack's, etc will be sure to spread the word, I am not sure that matters much.

My answer would likely be influenced based on the venue of the ANA. I say that mainly because there are those coins that need to be seen in hand to be appreciated.

Any reason in particular for Mexican not doing well at NYINC?

It matters. For starters, and for obvious reasons, many of the top buyers will not bid aggressively unless they can see the coin in person.

In my experience I have paid pretty pennies for Mexican at NYINC...

Point taken @MrEureka , yet many collectors, maybe even dealers, likely will still bid from the l8ving room. I think i speak for many when i say no money for travelling AND bidding.

Of course. Coins will sell for halfway decent prices wherever they sell, often to people at home drinking scotch and smoking cigars in their pajamas. But more competition from more serious live buyers can only help.

Agree. That said, reviewing purchases from the last couple of years for the coins I like (CAR and Mexico) there has been strong bidding in both venues, at least for the coins I bought (and lost). I did not think was much of a difference, but looks like I might be wrong.

ANA or FUN. NYINC is a very narrow market.
