Matt from ebay called asking what ebay could do for me......first time that ever happened.
Got on a rant about counterfeits and their reporting procedures and time delays to get removed. Explained that Judith, et al, years ago handled it much better and this system of user reporting just sucks. He, of course, never knew that there was an old system in place to take care of fakes. Said he'll pass it along.....yeah for what that's worth.

eBay calls because they don't have enough on their plate? Glad to hear you filled his ears...unfortunately it fell on deaf ones.

They used to give us a call monthly back when we were hardcore power selling. Supposedly some marketing expert trying to show us ways to expand our business so they could collect more fees. Those days are long gone, don't sell a thing there anymore.
I buy occasionally but even that is becoming a hassle with the tons of fakes, shoddy sellers etc. I hit the deals from the big dogs; APMEX, MCM, BPM, GSC etc. Don't waste any time with the other clowns. Much different place then it was 10-15 years ago.

Yeah, I had a power seller rep a decade ago. Now you get Thomas in Malaysia.
They even have to use fake Americanized names.
I got the monthly calls too. Every once in a while you hit gold . One of them talked me through some SEO tips and I followed them and they worked. I would google and my items would come up on page one. Of course that was when google still functioned and best match wasn't a thing yet. Once best match kicked in it all went out the window , after that you could find an ebay item from google , log in search again and not find it anymore

I actually did get that call a few years ago.
They were going to make it better for me and increase my sales.
The old "pay to play" game....I pay them to pop my items up in the searches, and then if the items sell I pay them just a wee bit more than I would have otherwise.....but hey, I will sell more, so it's a win-win (for eBay...maybe.)
I really miss Judith and all that she did to weed out crooks.
Just last week I was looking at some items on ebay and started to reminisce about how it was back in the nineties on ebay..... It was very different... they even had a friendly chat board (maybe they still do, have not seen it) where issues could be discussed and bad actors could be reported. It is now totally different.
