Hitting a dead end and need some help...
I am trying to find a copy of this card (below) to complete my set. I have been scouring everything I can (local shops, shows and the many internet auction and sale sites) and I can't even get a whiff. Part of the problem is he was a tennis player; I don't really know tennis cards or memorabilia all that well and the cards from the set seem to be pretty rare to begin with. I know who has the tape stained one and he isn't selling. I'd obviously love to find the other one and at least try to submit a bid/get an offer. Or any other copy - I just have no clue where to start searching next as I've only ever collected baseball cards; the set is 9 baseball, 3 non. If anyone has someone they could ask, a warm lead - ANYTHING!!! Any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I'm assuming this is from '51 Wheaties?
Arthur
Card number 12. A dead ringer for the '52 Wheaties On Box card...you are correct, sir.

How does one tell the difference between a '51 and a '52?
Arthur
@ReggieCleveland
The 1951 Wheaties Premium Photos are 5x7 and black and white. They resemble Jay Portraits and Team Issues but on a thicker stock that is quite similar to baseball cards. They were never released to the public and are considered (and somestimes called) a test issue. There are 12 to the set.
The 1951 Wheaties On Box set is color and had one athlete per box on smaller boxes. They were cut off or whole boxes were saved. There are Bob Feller, Johnny Lujack, George Mikan, Stan Musial, Sam Snead and Ted Williams.
The 1952 Wheaties On Box set were issued in sets of 8 on the actual cereal box - the kids at the time could cut them off the box. There are 30 athletes in 2 poses for a total of 60 cards.
I have a thread over in the Registry section if you want to know more about the 1951 Wheaties Premium Photos...

I have a couple of the 1952 cards. I didn't know the corners were supposed to be rounded, I always thought they were just low grade.
I'm not sure about grading standards on hand cut cards. That said here's a 10 - note the thin blue border at edge and in corners...
Hope it helps...

Honestly that is a crap grade. The corners should be cut round. PSA should not have graded that a 10
@1951WheatiesPremium
Thanks for the breakdown. I'll see if I can find the one you're looking for.
Arthur
Mine are hand cut but not perfectly round. I'll try and remember to post scans when I get on my actual computer.
No problem - I would think the National is my best chance at this point. Maybe if/when it comes to the east coast in the future as I can't swing Cleveland...

A set of 7 of 9 baseball players sold via Goldin Auctions for almost 2300 this past weekend. More than I thought it would since the Mantles a four.
Anyone here grab it?

Also, would anyone here who has a 'Worthpoint' subscription be willing and able to help me find this specific listing? This specific copy was sold on eBay and I think it would help me find out when and who sold it...
