AL! Hold your fire on Brady! He shook hands with Fletcher Cox after the game, he might not have been able to find Foles every think of that?? Geezuz we got enough Pats hate we don’t need a fellow faithful to feed the masses more garbage stories, Brady was mad ofcourse but he made nice with Cox I mean what’s he supposed to do fight through the crowds to find him and acknowledge that he got beat by him? I’m shocked your posting those harsh words

I am DISGUSTED with Brady not congratulating Foles at the end of the game. This lack of sportsmanship will forever tarnish Brady as a poor sport and sore loser. Nobody likes to lose, especially in a SB when your team is the favorite. The Eagles and Foles outplayed the Patriot's and they won. It's a hard pill to swallow, but not being a man about the loss is just uber bush league.

Brady intentionally not congratulating Foles? I don't believe it...Tom Brady is not about that.

By the way, i never bought that deflategate BS either.

Things always get crazy after a SB win...Brady could have found him, chaos or not. You can call my words harsh, Brady is bush league in my book. Oh, when pressed, he'll come up with something I suppose. Foles out played him and Brady should have taken the high road...he opted not to respect his opponent. Classless. Interacting with Cox or Barnett is not Foles.

Hey Paul, I wish they'd won, but the better team won. To blow off your opponent doesn't make it with me.

Recalling the time the Pistons starters walked off the course when Jordan and the Bulls unseated them in the playoffs.

    Putz move.

Al, believe me I know you wished they had won. We are going to seriously agree to disagree on this though. And I absolutely agree the better team won, it could have gone either way but the Pats were chasing them all game and the Eagles were the better team last night for sure. Either way, Cheers my friend

Actually, interacting with Cox is much classier anyway. Cox is the guy who was trying to beat Brady's brains in during the game, not Nick Foles.

I'm not sure if it's a spin or not, but I have read that since Foles was the game MVP, they whisked him away so they could present his award, etc, which may be the reason Foles was hard to find.

Ok, one more post on this...Foles was interviewed yesterday in Orlando, FL at Disneyworld...he stated he had not heard from or been in contact with Brady since the game ended. NOW...had Brady at least sent a text, tweet, email, or something to Foles, he might have gotten a reprieve from me. Brady got his ego severely bruised and chose the low road.

Again, I am a very, VERY long fan of the Patriot's, going back as far as Babe Parilli in the 60s and the then Boston Patriot's. Sportsmanship is sportsmanship. Kinda like when I'm playing poker at my weekly game and get nailed on a nice hand, I do my best to keep my cool and at leat mumble something like "nice hand"...I've seen others rip, throw and get pissed off...they're losers, and I especially love beating them.

Again, classless of Brady to blow this off and whatever heat he gets, is well deserved.

Cheers to you to Paul, hopefully the Sox do well this year.

    Al

Some are bashing Brady for not shaking hands with Foles, and that is simply not fair. There isn't anything inherent that QB's have to meet and shake hands on the field or off the field. Some do, some don't, it's no big deal and frankly, it's much ado about nothing.

For Patriots fans to bash Brady after all he's done for the Patriots is to me beyond belief. But I understand the mentality being an Eagles fan. Ron Jaworski, who had more guts and courage than any QB I have ever seen, was booed mercilessly by Philly fans, and I criticized Eagles fans as well for doing that....and Jaworski didn't win 5 Super Bowls.

Bashing Brady is UNBELIEVEABLE!!! I would have loved to have him in Dallas during the "Romo the loser" years!

    Stevek and Dimeman...

What I posted about Brady is that I thought his lack of sportsmanship was bush league...and it is.

All this has NADA to do about whatever Jaworski did, Romo did, or what Brady has done in the past for the Patriot's team. These are mutually exclusive events...Brady puts no bread on my table, nor benjamins in my wallet...he's just a quarterback who plays football for my favorite team, no more, no less. It wouldh've been a piece of cake for him to find Foles and congratulate him, he chose not to do so and blaming all the hoopla, chaos and bajillions of silver and green confetti is just lame.

You guys can call it bashing, I call it sportsmanship...and YES it is fair to have an opinion, I've read yours, and you've read mine.

Congrats Foles and the Eagles, you were the better team last Sunday.

The bottom line is that it is not required for QB's to shake hands and in no way (my opinion) is Tom Brady bush league.

Not all the players shake hands and/or congratulate each other.....only the ones that are friends outside of football.

That's true. A lot of times they are business associates of sorts, have the same agent, were on the same team in college or the pros, or for various reasons know each other and socialize outside of football.

I don't know if I can give the Eagles the thumbs up on the victory.

The Foles TD catch was an illegal formation. Only 6 on the line of scrimmage instead of the necessary 7. Refs missed it.
Clement did not have possession when he touched the end line in the end zone.

    The Ertz TD was fine.

14 points instead of 6 on those two missed calls would have sent the game into OT.

Agree about Brady not shaking hands. Nick Foles is one heck of a QB. Feel good for that kid.

With all the speculation about what is or what isn't a catch, here's one that would no way be ruled a catch today.

Staubach to Butch Johnson in Super Bowl XII.

It wasn’t a catch then either but of course that was pre replay

That's exactly right. Used to be all a player had to do was cross the plane of the goal line with possession - didn't matter what happened afterwards. I'm not against new rules per se, but I think the old rule on this was much better.

He (Butch) caught the ball...took steps.....crossed the goal line.....TD then and should be now.

Laugh all you want, but it was a TD. :)

Remember when John Madden, I think he started the phrase, "The ground can't cause a fumble" and that's the way the refs called it as well.

Well in today's rules, now it seems the ground can cause a fumble, or an incompletion, and I don't like that new rule either.

  • grote15grote15 Posts: 29,694 ✭✭✭✭✭

I'm not a fan of the rule as it stands right now, but until they change it, it is what it is.

But that "reception" by Johnson in Super Bowl XII would likely not stand up even if the rule were changed. #43 on the Broncos had a valid argument after the play but the ref was probably star struck by America's Team to rule it any other way.

For cryin-out-loud.....he caught the ball ran to the goal as a runner. As soon as the ball crossed the line it was over...TD!

I garan-freakin-tee ya if he would have been hit before the goal and he lost the ball.....it would have been called a fumble!

    GARAN-FREAKIN-TEE ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
