Not a huge cherrypick. But a cherrypick no less.
Saw the fat 9, fat bottomed 3, scraggly 9 and such. Figured I'd pay no more than a regular 1939 10c MS65.
It's a very very early die state. There are very subtle serif splits and corners in Liberty. You can see they're starting to go and the touch ups are just beginning. IGWT only has one minor corner nothing special.
No idea which variety DDO. It's so early in the touching up of the date (the 1 stands higher than the high-standing bottom 3 loop). This one has a swirl, almost a circle, on the first 9 where the engraving ended almost gives it a circular bump at the bottom right of the top loop.

My raw 1939 10c DDO. Not sure on this variety either.
Questions comments thoughts or sharing pictures of regular 39's or any die state DDO would be awesome!

I don't know why my pictures always mess up when posting but here's some better shots of the new one. I really hate trying to take pictures through a slab. You guys won't be able to see what I do which sucks.
Yellow light is the best the newp is gonna get I guess.

I know.. it's stupid early EDS.. Sadly with the holder you can see more from afar or in hand. There's some mechanical doubling on the first example making it harder to differentiate. I've seen a few others that are very weak date but starting to get the corners of Liberty, or a single letter or two in IGWT.
Tbh, I'm growing fascinated with these, and will probably go the way of my nickel delaminations. They're cheap enough to buy ($15?) in these early stages. Some of the graded ones are worse off than my 2nd example sometimes the first. You'll find some graded examples with just a fat 9 or a fat bottomed 3, or a scraggly 9 on the end with a thin touch up.
I'd like to secure a nice example but I can't find any that make it worth it to me. The $150 graded ones I can't justify for a novelty set.
And yeah half my pictures didn't post again. I've about given up on this phone.
