Copper 4 the Weekend

With Mr. Broadstruck's permission I bring you this week's edition of Copper 4 the Weekend!
Here is an amazing upgrade to the Merriam Collection, and one of my favorites.
Abraham Lincoln/ "Made from Copper Taken from the Ruins of the Turpentine Works, Destroyed by the Rebels" (ex. Captain Andrew Zabriskie)
Zabriskie was more or less the father of the niche in this hobby known as "Lincolniana." He literally wrote the book on collecting Lincoln tokens and medals, born from his experience of viewing the President's funeral procession at a young age.
Zabriskie put his collection together in the 19th century, and while his US coins were auctioned off by Chapman after his death, his tokens and medals collection sat in a closet unmolested by his heirs for nearly 100 years. Sothebys finally auctioned the collection in 1999.
The state of preservation of this token blows my mind. It is very scarce to begin with, and when located it is usually found holed for suspension.
Below is my old, wholesome XF piece for comparison. It has since found a new home.

Comments
I used to go to summer camp not far from New Bern, definitely piney woods.
Although copies, and maybe even not well respected I truly enjoy this group.

Maybe one day I will be able to get a few.

Awesome set! I have long been a fan of the Gallery Mint's work!
Here's a pair of tokens from the Lingg Brothers of Philadelphia -- the Copper store cards of the Harbach's Candy company:
This poor old cent has been cleaned and then retoned/darkened but it has pretty good detail and no major hits or damage. Is there a doctor that could fix it or?
Successful BST deals with mustangt and jesbroken. Now EVERYTHING is for sale.
** Is there a doctor that could fix it or?**
I think it has had enough doctoring, and frankly if it now looks like that, they probably won't get it much better. Since there look to be trace areas of red still peaking through, perhaps some time in one of those old yellow envelopes in a warm, dry environment would be in order.
It's a tougher and under rated date in the large cent series, and that is a presentable example (unless you need a straight graded example).
Really like those Harbach's Walnut candy scorecards @cardinal
And that Cupid/sea monster E.Hill merchant token is great @coinsarefun
Along with all the other great coppers!

spacehayduke - those were some truly impressive large cents that you owned!
I think the woodgrain on this Cent is interesting and attractive.
Some very nice examples shown!
