January 30 is a bad day to have a Birthday?

BuffaloIronTailBuffaloIronTail Posts: 7,413 ✭✭✭✭✭

My Birthday - January 30 - Had some not so good things happen in history.

The day I was born in my hometown, the local steel mill staged a wildcat strike.

Adolph Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in 1933.

Ghandi was assassinated.

And today........I had the first of my many posts ever to be deleted from this forum.

Just another addition - strange it happened today.

Chalk up one more for the books!

I'm not going anywhere.......................................

Pete

    Darkside, of course, but...

Charles I of Great Britain was executed on January 30, 1649.

If you consider that many people (many of our ancestors) left England during its Civil Wars and during the English Commonwealth for America, the beheading of Charles Stuart was and is a big deal.

The more I trace my Mom's family, the more names I find going back to that era.

Numismatically, the English Civil Wars are of very very great interest too. Most of the Stuart era is.

P.S. oh Happy Birthday! I posted on your 'poofed' thread and then thought better of my cartoon and deleted it.

I'll add that one to my list..........it definitely belongs. Thanks.

I looked up the date in Wikipedia and the events sure are mostly negative. Seems strange.

The one that caught my eye was this one: 1982 – Richard Skrenta writes the first PC virus code, which is 400 lines long and disguised as an Apple boot program called "Elk Cloner".

    @BuffaloIronTail
I would wager some good things probably happened to you on Jan. 30.
It's just our nature to assign more weight to the unfortunate events.

Your birthday events are better than my sister's.

She was born on April 20th-- also Hitler's Birthday.

    But, she denies it.
    [apparently she can't use Wikipedia.]

That's because FDR was also born on January 30.
